Default Some questions on setup 378ci LS1

My vette has a 378ci sleeved ls1, with forged internals etc (Finish bore 4.08 x 3.622 stroke, Ross flat tops, Lunati rods, clevite bearings, ls6 ported oil pump, 10:8:1 compression)

Anyway, it has Stage II ported LS1 heads, and a comp xer cam (236/230 I believe), ls6 intake. It only put down 417/411 on the dyno.

I am looking to get some more power out of this motor, so I'm thinking

Advanced Induction ported ls6 heads
Whiplash II Cam (mid 240s, 630ish lift, 113 LSA)

What kind of gains should I see?
Anyone recommends something different?

Also whats the difference in terms of HP between a 346 and a 378 with identical heads, is there any?

ls6 intake will be a bottleneck I assume, but I can't afford a FAST right now.

With the bore/stroke you have you need a custom cam to have the valve events tailored to what that combo is going to want/like. No off the shelf cam is going to be perfect.

If you can't afford a fast then you can't afford a single plane, and the LS6 intake will be your bottleneck.

AI does AWESOME port work.

You won't be dissapointed.

Thanks for the replies!

I researched and found Pat G for custom cams, I am going to let him customize the cam for my setup.

Its a c5 vette

Your cam is not optimal for your motor...a reverse split like you currently have works much better for cars with restricted exhaust like stock manifolds, cats, etc. You need to get a better spec'd cam for your motor. AI does excellent head work!! The most difference between a 346ci and your 378ci motor is that your motor should make more torque and with the same cam, the cam would be tamer in your larger cube motor and more driveable, and peak power earlier in the rpm range.

If it was my motor i would go with TFS 235cc heads and a Fast 102 tb and a custom cam. If your trying to save alittle i would go with a nice Cnc'd Ls3 head and a Tsp Ls3 cam.

I have no clue, bought it from previous owner, he has a spec sheet with the specs. It was done by ARE (not sure if its even a company).

What power would I expect from a ported ls3 head and a nice cam?
Wouldn't ls3 head be too big for my motor? Or no? Sorry I'm really new to these LS cars, I had a kenne bell 04 cobra before.

Ls3 are only 376 cubes stock so no they would be right at home on your motor. As far as power anywhere between 450-500rwhp. Depends on rear end set-up,what trans or tires your running.

They're too big for an LS1 bore and bordeline too big for the LS2 bore.

But the 4.08 bore is perfect for those heads as the stock LS3 bore is 4.065.
