Default worn ms4 cam

I had a TSP 224 for several years and decided to change to the MS4, my car has 36k on it. I only put less then 600 miles on the cam when I heard a very bad valve train noise, I looked threw the cam hole and saw that the lifter did not spin. I have not removed the lifter yet and was wondering if anybody has seen this, I have seen many stock truck engines do this at work.

Numerious lobes on a Comp cam 228/232 xer lobe in my LS6 came out looking like that, but the cam had 55,000 miles on it.
It seemed to fall apart very rapidly towards the end. Loud tappet noise started almost overnite. Several lifters had flat spots, but most of the stock lifters did look ok.

Still got the pictures, if you want to see them email me.

I've seen quite a few issues with TSP cams lately. Strange.

my noise started just like yours, drove it to work and then to lunch and the damn noise started. Looking threw the cam hole the lifters appear to look good but with out pulling them not 100%.
I would like to see your pics.

Yeah not saying TSP is not doing it right but, a couple weeks ago a guy posted up 3 or 4 TSP cams with messed up lobes. But TSP needs to get these cams in house and inspect them and see what's up before their name gets tarnished.

If your having abnormal wear I can assure you it is nothing we are doing, our cams are ground by Comp just like many of the other vendors on this site. If you are having a problem give us a call, and we will do our best to get to the bottom of the situation.

IMHO, looks as if a factory roller lifter went south and scared the cam lobe. Eric L

Seriously you can't blame TSP. That's like if you got a bad set of 02 sensors from autozone. Would you say autozone makes shitty sensors? No. So why bash TSP?

I don't think anyone is bashing TSP.

That's a flat tappet cam. (292H) How can you compare that with a roller?

You really don't hear about this problem that often. It's more of an isolated incident. If this happened more often, the forums would be flooded with posts like this.

My buddies cam looked the same way when a lifter went south! You can send damaged cams to Comp to be reground for $125
