Camshaft won't move....
By hand that is. I'm in the process of changing cams and finally got the crank pulley off. If I put a screwdriver between two bolts then I can move it although kinda notchy (first time doing this so it may be normal). And the crank would barely move by hand. Is my engine messed up and I cannot get the cam to budge by hand so how the heck do I get out of the car?

take the valve covers, rocker arms off. then pull out the push rods. spin the cam to retain the lifters in thier cups and install 5/16 dowl rods in the two hols behind the cam sprocket to make sure the lifters stay in the cups.

You have to do like poltergeist said bro, loosen the rockers and remove the push rods.
To get the cam out, you have to pull the radiator out to make enough room to get it all the way out.

Remove the rockers. Remove the pushrods.
After this, rotate the cam a couple of times to drive the lifters high into their bores.
Once the lifters are moved, you should be able to gently & carefully turn the cam as you pull the cam out by the three bolts. I was able to get a thumb and index finger on the cam from above (toward the rear of the block) to assist in the removal.
After the cam is out, there is the possibilty that a lifter can fall into the oil pan. I've never had this misfortune.

dude seriously, put down the wrench and start reading. maybe even buy a service manual. You are going to mess something up bad. You cant just yank a cam out without doing a lot of preliminary work first. good on you for doing it yourself but please read for about two straight days first.

I did read that but I'm pretty sure now that I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. I'll go over it again. Thanks to all that helped and everyone else...well....whatever...

That "ls1howto" document is seriously an amazing piece of work. I followed it exactly as written, and yes, as redbird says, the devil is in the details. As an example, I spent nearly a whole day cleaning the bolt holes and removing the old gasket. If you follow that document exactly as written you can't go wrong. If you start winging it you're asking for trouble.

Wow, imminent failure plus an attitude. This poster has potential for real entertainment!
