Default 346 vs 408 and build ?

So I have my motor all spec'd out. Right now I am running a forged 347 with prc 5.3's and a 224/230 cam. My question is am I going to notice a $5k difference(after selling my motor) between the 2 motors? If it is a big difference it is justified. If not I will keep the 347. Here are the specs

TSP LQ4 408
PRC CNC LS3 heads milled to yield 11.5:1
LS3 intake with 92mm TB
236/242 .600/.610 112+2

Also any guesses on hp?

How much power are you making now? Id guess 425 or so. That 408 setup should make 500-525. So about 100rwhp more for $5000. Plus 408 should have huge gains in the low - midrange as well.

I can tell you it was worth every penny I spent on my 408, and I'd do it again. Plus you might even look at going with a bigger cam, the larger cubes really eat up duration....that 236/242 would have somewhere near the manners of a 224 in a stock cube motor.....but then again it depends on what car It's going in, and what you plans are for it.

I say keep yours and put a procharger on it if you're already forged

Been there done that. Belt slip, no gain in low end torque. if I could get a whipple it would be done!

Looks very promising.

This guy has a very similar setup to your 408. Heres his setup.

Well if you already did fi the only other two options for more power are bigger cubes or spray if you have the right rings for it

Having cubic inches and a min 4.000" bore are huge advantages. Cam and heads are spec'ed to the motor. A large cam for a 346 will most times be tame for that motor so what you pick would be different.

I still have regrets on not going on a 408 on my last rebuild.. Next time, I dont care what happens or about my budget, it will be a huge 440 stroker LOL.

Go for a 408..

I went with nitrous to keep up with the big boys! but I dont wanna know what a stroker with nitrous feels like!!

I know exhaust/induction seems to be a huge factor on stroker engine. Some plp get good numbers, close to 500rwhp, but some other plp are stuck around 450rwhp without bigger exhaust/induction setup.

What is your setup?
