Default What valve spring to run? Under a budget

Wondering what spring to run? Found these two here... Lunati or Comp cams both are dual springs.

I'm running the Lunati's, on my second set actually. No complaints.

I just rebuilt my stock heads. Had them cleaned and got a valve job. I went super budget and got ls6 beehives new for about $60 so I can reuse my stock retainers. They are good for .580 lift which leaves plenty of moderate cams to choose from. Am I going to regret not going with a better set of springs?

LS6 springs are not suitable for aftermarket cam lobes. They are designed for stock cam lobes. And 918s are now good to .625 lift but max lift is only one part of the equation. Just because your cam is under 625 lift does not mean a single spring will work with your application.

LS6 springs are only good to .570 lift. But Lingenfelter has their LS9 springs that are good to .580 and they are only $70 http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merc...Store_Code=LPE

PAC says 1215s are good to only 0.600" lift.

I used PAC 1518s in my Z06 ... rest of the valve train is all stock except for some custom Manton pushrods and Trunnion Kit.

"High performance LS1 spring that features additional nitriding processing for increased durability for high lift applications up to 0.650 lift."

I'm a little confused about the gt2-3 cam/spring combo. The description says it comes with ls6 springs but it has .571/.578 lift. Everywhere I read agrees with you that the ls6 springs are only good for .570" but I'm sure Lingenfelter has done extensive testing on this cam.

I'm guessing he's not a sponsor since you didn't provide a name?
