Default are the 987 &978 better than the 918's??

i just noticed that people are talking more about the 987-978 springs. are they better than the 918's?? are they a drop in type spring ( no modification required?)?

what info does any one have on them ( open seat pressure, closed pressure, lift, etc.)

thanks

hey bdawg, how are you doing??
i had 914's in my car a while back , until i broke one and went with the 918's. from what i heard the 918's are the way to go , but i want to make sure that they are the best when compared to the 978 and 987 springs.

the MTI cam is a good grind. have you looked at the thunder racing ones ?? have you resolved your detonation issues?

I havent checked out thunder racing yet. I should call them & see what they suggest. MAFT has taken care of the detonation. & i dynoed 339 rwhp & 350 rwt not bad for $13000 huh J/k. inside im crying ! should i go to 918"s when i change cams though?? im just trying to be educated this time im still pissed at the guy who built it i added a stroker & I LOST 60 HP!! WTF? but i just got in the mail today a acpt c/f d/s for $500. Friggin thing is sweet. brand new he never put it on. i left you a message last week on azls1

The 978s and 987s are dual springs. They are better than 918s, but they require machining on the heads to fit them.

hey bdawg,
trust me, your motor has so much untapped potential, all you need is a good tune .( and definatly a better cam).

i'm sorry about the AZls1 message , i havn't been on that site for a while now. i'll check it soon.

quick ws6 , what kind of machining do i need to do? widen the pockets? sink them in? what diameter are the 987-978 and what is the diameter of the 918 springs?
