Default Is This a Lifter? (Video)

So I just replaced the timing chain on my car because I kept hearing this strange off rhythm "*****...***** *****" noise. I don't think it was the timing chain despite numerous trusted opinions. I think it was a lifter

Helpful Info:
112k Miles
Cam put in at 66k, patriot dual gold springs (pretty heavy)
Heads never removed, stock lifters
Oil Pump has Fresh O-Ring (from timing chain), oil pressure in car is fine (see video)
Loud ticking noise showed up when I was beating on the car, High RPM pulls

Can you identify if it is one side or the other?

I would pop the valve cover and hope and pray you see something wrong. Take a long screwdriver or a wooden dowel and place it all over the top of the valve covers and see if you can pinpoint the noise.

yeah i actually just took the valve covers off and checked the pushrods for play, the pushrod for the intake valve on cylinder 8 has lots of vertical play where as the others have none... so i'm pretty confident that's the issue. I don't know what else it'd be

Looks like you have a collapsed lifter. DO NOT run the car anymore or you will risk tearing stuff up worse i.e. cam lobe, cam bearing. Tear it down and hope a lifter is all you find wrong.

Okay so now I guess I need some lifter recommendations.

I'd like some that basically are better and drop right in.

Also, would it be a smart move to get new pushrods?

I'd just use some LS7 lifters they will drop right in but they will require a different length pushrods. The lifter cup height is different than the stock lifters that are in your car now. Hope this helps you.

Yeah thanks for the info, i'll look into like bar lifters, as of now the plan is ls7 lifters. I pulled the block apart last week and found out that a lifter turned, took out the cam, spit needs bearings and metal stuff everywhere, and made the oil look like custom pearl paint. Here's the damage:

This is the lifter:

This is the Cam:

These are the metal/valve seal shavings in cylinder 4

This is the cam bearing:

Based on this I'd just rather get new bearings in the entire motor while i'm at it. It's already down to the short block on an engine stand.

My plan at this point is to try to keep my short block, just get arp rod bolts, bearings and rings, and then buy a nice set of heads, new (bigger) cam, lifters pushrods, and all arp hardware.

Any input on my plan/ good places to get parts, recommendations on parts/cams/shops to do my bearings... anything is appreciated. Thanks

I have a similar sound, mine goes away after the car runs for a few minutes, done a quick 0-70 pulling it of a gas station today is what I believe triggered this.

Sorry OP that it has happened to you. That is some pretty nasty damage just take your time do it right and you will be more than happy. As much as I hate to say it it looks like I hit the nail straight on the head. I'm sorry OP I was right.

I had the same thing happen to mine in Dec. Identical to what you posted. I let the car sit for a few months until after seeing your thread. Ripped mine apart last week, same problem. Mine was on Comp 850's though.
