What heads and cam?
I have boltons and ss3600 stall. Looking to do heads and cam. Would like to see high 10s even on a hot day. Car is mostly street but sees track couple times a year. Not a dd but I do want streetable. Any suggestions?

Hmmm ok thanks. So lets talk cost, reliability and power.
I see those prc 5.3 or ls6 heads are offered at a great price but iv only seen 410-430rwh with those (through a stalled auto without a fast)
I wonder how much better a tea/ai ported 5.3 or ls6 would be?
Now those tea tfs 215s look pretty awesome at a much higher cost. What would the total cost be with those dont you need rockers also? Any other parts needed with them?
How about reliability? Do you think im asking to much in a street car to be a 10sec ride?

Best results that have been proven time and time again would be a EPS cam and some Advanced Induction 243 heads. Cam wise, I'd look into a 226/234 on a 113-114lsa. That would be a stout running set up. You'll need some gears too if you don't already have them. 3.73's would be a good choice. I don't see 10's happening though. Low to mid 11's at best....but who knows, maybe you'll surprise us G/L

Realiabilty comes at a cost for tons of HP out of small cube engine. The PRC 215s would be a great head. I think that is the head that got them into the 10s on the stock bottom end.
I have looked into AI, BIG WASTE OF MONEY! There best package is about $1200 + YOU supply the cores and the parts. $2,000+ later you would have over paid and still have a stock valved head. There are limitations to a 243 or 241 casting.
I suggest talking to Texas Speed.

Tony Mamo @ AFR or Phil & Ron @ AI. Two best companies to go with. The 5.3l heads are poop. TSP & PRC heads are good if you are on a tight budget but wont get you the gains AFR or AI will. To the OP speaking of AI being a waste of money, do your research before you open your uneducated mouth. Browse the dyno section and you will see mulitple dyno/track proven AI builds.

I have researched it,

Looks like a bargain to me.
I didnt say they were not good heads. I said you can get equal or better heads for less money.

They just were too expensive in my opinion when you compare the HP difference.
I feel AFRs are in a different league than ported GM castings. Many will also argue the gains they give don't justify the additonal cost.

One way to look at it lsxcamaroz is yes, you will pay more for AI's work or AFR's like mentioned above. But when it comes down to HP & Trq #'s per dollar spent....another 15+rwh/rwt is worth the extra money spent. For best results/performance/reliability, spend the money wisely and do the job right the first time around. I've seen too many guys take the less expensive road and they end up kicking themselves and or doing the job over down the road.

Thats why budget is very important to consider. He want it streetable and be a 10 sec monster...I think he might be asking for too much out of 346ci. Maybe a FI would get him there easier than $3000 in H/C.

OP,
Your budget is $3000. So work with parts to fit your budget and your needs. Again, people act like a 4th gen fbody is new ****. Its friggin almost 12 years old. There are setups that are proven and consistent.
AFR is flat out top notch. But it is pricey. If you can save for the money and opt for them, definitely do. But its funny when you see people bash PRC 5.3 heads as budget heads.. When i have seen vids of a budget 5.3 head and a off the shelf cam 228/228 cam from TSP pull on a cobra on the street. I think that is impressive!! Why, because the setup was simple and not complicated. A budget head, and a small off the shelf cam pulling away from a S/C cobra.
But hell, only a custom cam and the most expensive heads on the market is the only way to go now i guess..

Where in any of his posts does it say he only has $3000? He said he wanted a streetable 10 second car. There's no way in hell he's gonna reach that goal with some budget *** heads and a shelf cam. Let alone he doesn't have gears nor intake. And as far as the PRC 5.3 heads go, they are garbo. Waste of money.

I think some of you guys have me confused with badazz81z28. I didnt say what my budget was.
I like the tea/tfs 215s alot. But how much for those heads after buying the extras like rockers?
Also what is a good cam to run with these heads? Im not looking for perfect drivability its not a dd but at the same time I dont want it to be a full out drag car either.
Thanks guys your a good help.
