Default LQ9 Auto Trans Options

Hi everyone. I'm sure this info is on here (just can't find it) but I know a lot of you know what you're talking about on this forum. Can I bolt an LQ9 (Gen III 6.0L) to my 700r4 transmission? I know T56, or 4l60e/4l80e are direct bolt-up transmissions, but I own a 700r4, and it would be sweet to use a trans I already own.

Thanks for the help

Mainly you'll need the 12563532 spacer and a way to hook up your kickdown cable (i think lokar and bowtieoverdrives has them). If you're using a stock flexplate you'll need to open up the torque converter bolt holes a little bit or drill new ones. Some aftermarket flexplates use a dual pattern that will fit either converter without modifying the bolt holes (such as the PRW 1834610). You'll also need 6 longer flexplate bolts (19257940).

Thanks for the help, guys! It's awesome having people with the knowledge and willingness to help.

93Z2871805, this question may seem dumb, but I'm not all knowing. Do I still have to worry about the kickdown cable if I'm running a reverse valve body in the trans?

If your 700R4 is stock You might wanna do all the upgrades to handle the extra power of the 6.0 Most converter companies can get you a swap stall converter & all the 4L65E upgrades retrofit into a 700R4

What valve body are you using? Some delete it, others don't. If you look into the hole that the TV cable goes into can you see the hook still there? Is there a block-off plate over it? Did it say anything about "constant pressure?"

Honestly the only real difference is a 5 pinion planet (which in my opinion isn't much of an upgrade). If he were to tear it down, there are much stronger rebuild options out there (like some of the kits from Probuilt Automatics).

The 5-pinion is cheaper as they are powdered metal, the 4pinion are forged. The change was for money savings not to address any weakness. There were some 4pinion problems way back in the 80s but even that was a thrust washer issue not a strength of the pinions one.
