Default Milled heads with stock cam? Can I do it?

I have a set of LS3 heads that have been milled .030". They are for a build I'm working on, but I want to put a stock LQ9 in the car to get it going. This is a carburated build. The LS3 heads have .650" lift springs on them. Will this work with the stock LQ9 cam?

I wanted to do it this way so I don't have to buy another intake. If it would be best to use the stock 317 heads I can just buy a cathedral Victor Jr.

Thanks

As stated above, I'm trying to get a temporary engine in my car. It would be more cost effective to put my heads on it as I'll only be out some time and a set of head gaskets.

Didn't know if it would perform a little better with the LS3 heads since the stock cam is in place.

How long does it take to put a cam in an engine siting on a stand waiting to go on a car? About 9 minutes?

Don't really know how that statement is supposed to help here. Are you suggesting I put a cam in the LQ9 also?

Yes, you said that this swap will keep the stock cam because the engine needs to be quickly dropped into the new car, but I'm saying that it takes all of a few minutes to take the old cam out and slide a new one in while the engine is on the stand...so why not do it?

i think you're forgetting the prob 1 week lead time and $650 in additional parts.
