LQ4/LQ9 build
Im considering selling my two ls1s to fund my lq4/9 build.
Im thinking lq4/9 with a (i think Lingenfelter GT-7) )boost cam and cncd 317 heads. Forged internals, stock crank. Maybe z06 cam for cheap, high pressure oil and water pump, swap all the other accessories and ls6 intake off my ls1, and finish with 60# injectors and a 255 walbro with hotwire kit.
Will be accompanied by a d1sc fmic, tick level 3 tranny, and mwc 9".
Suggestions? help? thoughts? concerns?

well, a few questions.
what about a timing chain? ls2 or double roller? and what about under drive pulley?
what valve springs should i go with?
what about lifters? ls7 be good?
how dished should the pistons be?
What are the cam specs? If its under .600" you can probably use a good single beehive spring like the comp 918, or PAC 1218.
I run the ls7 lifters with no issue on a .624 lift and spin my 408 to 8,000 rpms.
As for pistons, I'd look at the whole chamber/ compression....set it ip to run a .040" mls gasket, is take the time to polish the head chamber and cc it, then after that get a fish size that puts you right around 8.75-9.0:1 compression depending on how much boost you plan on running.....if you come up with a figure with a flat top piston working to get your compression I'd mill dome off the heads just so you can run an 8-12cc dished piston so the main combustion forces are more on the center of it and not out towards the ring lands.
While your at it replace the old lifters trays with new ones too.
