Default ls6 block bored .30 over?

So I have an ls6 block that is bored .30 over. I have no idea what internals to buy for it, or how I should build it. I also have stock heads that I plan on rebuilding and getting them ported and polished if it would be worth the time effort and money. I'm going to be putting this in to my 01 ws6. I ultimately want a ten second car that I can still drive frequently. Budget wise I would like to keep it between 6-8 G's if possible. I would appreciate any input.

.30=.300
no way it has ben bored that, maybe u meant .030.
even that may be too much for a stock ls6/ls1 block

why is .030 too much are the sleeves really too thin...

whats the max you can go over on a ls6

Hmmm, max over is 0.012 inch.

There is an expensive Darton sleeve option.

6-8 g's to start you mean?

4K bottom end
2K heads & valvetrain (optimistic)
intake, tb, injectors, headers, exhaust.
dyno time /tune
Rear end
Nitrous kit
tires
suspension
10-11.4 sec cert roll bar
etc. etc. etc.

If it's bored .030 with stock sleeves, your block is junk. Your only options are to find another block, or re sleeve it....period.

I would suggest starting with a 6.0 block if you want 10 seconds. Esp on a 6-8g budget. However, that budget will only get you started.

Then you have to factor in, trans, suspension, cage, rear end, wheels, tires...etc. your 6-8k budget will quickly turn into 20k by the time it sees 10's safely and more than once.

$4000 for just the bottom end?

You can get a decent stroker setup for ~$2000 with eagle/wiseco stuff.

For ~$3000 you can get some high end callies dragonslayer/callies compstar/diamond stuff...so depending on what his needs are he won't necessarily need a $4000 rotating assembly.

Also, like mentioned...if your LS6 block is 0.030 over you might want to get it checked by a machine shop as you probably don't have enough sleeve thickness.

No reason to waste your money having it checked...it's junk the way it sits. There is a reason you won't fine 3.928 pistons anywhere.

The only LS6 block that can take that much overbore is the 454ci big block out of a 70's model chevelle!! LOL!

like mentioned above go with a 6.0 and some l92 heads with a fast intake.check Texas Speed for a short or long block.

How about machined and assembled?

Once thoughtfully considered $4000 is a reasonable number to consider for a shortblock.

As said though it sounds like the block is scrap. Don't know if the OP bought it like that or had it done but if you know what shop was used avoid them like the plague, no excuse for something like that.

Hutcher04, are you sure it's .030 over? Can you post what the actual bore dimensions are currently. I can't believe a shop would go out that far, with that block. Maybe someone told you it's .030, and they are mistaken. I'm just sayin', don't toss it out before your sure it's junk.

I suspect a LOT of aluminum LS variant blocks get bored too far because most local machineshops are not terribly competent.
