I called them today, I think they're gonna cut me a check for a new crate motor........hahahahahaha
I find out tomorrow.....
I found a couple local LQ9's......$350-$500. I'll put in a forged 4" K1 crank and 4.030 over for 408ci. Put my old top end on it till my friend can get to building the single turbo kit.

Gonna open it up in about 1 hour. I'm guessing the rod in the cylinder where the dipstick is....let go. And hit the block and cracked it right there.
When it happened, it was somewhere near 6,000 rpm, so I assume the crank had that little movement to that side and thats what made the reluctor wheel hit the Crank Shaft sensor and the engine instantly shut down. Maybe thats why it didn't grenade all over the road, it shut down first.
We'll see soon enough.....

No pictures yet......haven't opened it up yet. My insurance company said they may cover it if the side of the block is cracked. The adjuster is coming out tomorrow. So I left it as is......
I only answered the questions that were asked of me....... : ) They said they cover engine failures if it just breaks out of nowhere......they will give me a check for a crate engine if its covered.
But I promise pictures when I do open it up.

Damn. Keep us posted for sure.
Sounds like you got lots of use out of her, but as our fourth gens age, it would be good if somewhere there was a list of "all things preventative maintenance" that should be done for these cars so we don't overlook something... fluids, belts, plugs, etc. etc.
