Default tie bar lifter install??? and pushrod length??

Just recently installed my howards tie bar lifters and bolted the heads down, my question is after someone asked me if they were installed in the right way is which is the right way?
I know might sound like a dumb question.

I put them in with the oil gallery holes in the lifter facing the oil passages in the block. The link bars are facing away from the valley plate area, so towards the exhaust side off the heads, does this sound correct? or should the link bars be facing the valley plate area?

2nd question is i carried out my pushrod length check on my newly built ls1 stroker motor and have 7.26" reading with zero lash 9-1/4 turns off my checker gauge (similar to comp gauge tool), then get 7.32" with zero lash on 10.5 gauge turns and 1-3/4 to 2 turns till torqued and 7.36" with zero lash on 11 gauge turns and 1-1/4 to 1.5 turns till torqued.

going by these i was looking at 7.350" pushrods length, does this sound right or am i off a bit with my calculations?

I also did a rotation with a mark on the center off the valve tip and was basically in the middle off my factory rocker i'll be using with the 7.32" length, not sure if that helps a bit.

Thanks in advance and sorry if any off this has been covered a million times.

In my opinion 2 turns to torque is way too tight....I'd look at 7.30" pushrods....try to get it to 1/2-1 turn to torque max if you shooting for around a .040-.050" preload

Yeh with 7.26-7.28" length i was getting bout a 1/2 turn till torque so 7.30" would make sense. Will check again with that length and if thats on 1/2 to 1 turn whem torqued will get them.

That would also bring me smack on middle off rocker tip as well, will double check that again tonight.

ordered the 7.30" pushrods, rechecked and spoke to a couple of places who said the 7.30" would be be the go for same reasons you mentioned mark21742.

Also was told that as long as the tie bars aren't fouling then should be ok, iv turned it a number off times and couldn't hear any unusual noises or feel anything locking up, but will double check, if anyone else has any more input this would be good.

I'm spinning ls7 style comp lifters to 8,000 rpms now, so when my heads come off again I think I'll end up going to link bar lifters along with a good adjustable rocker set up....lol I just find it hard to drop another $2,000+ in the valve train...even though in the back of my head I know I need to

yeh fare enough, i did extra to my heads cause of my stroker motor, which i'm hopeing to drop in the car this weekend if my new stall convertor turns up tomorrow.
Hopefully start it on sunday and run the cam in then try and get it towed to the tuners with out an exhaust (going to get them to weld the cat pipes in the correct spot) a week or so later to get a base tune to run it in and work out what i need to tweak and with fuel system, gauges, etc in the meantime, just small things anyway, got 99% sorted, well at least i think anyway.

With the comp linkbars, the bars go toward the valley.
