But on the note of all LS motors, they were not built exactly for performance. Most were built for trucks and to haul stuff with, the lt1 was strictly for performance. and it shows on the track.

Just think of the LS1 as the LT1 ver. 2.0. It's like Windows 95 vs. XP. Vista vs. Win 7. It's an upgrade of epic proportions.

This looks like fun lol...
I think the window anology is a good one.
With that being said, any engine if built right can make gobs of power. That being said, a stock LS1 vs a highly modded LT1 or any engine for that is not a real comparison.
Stock for Stock, the LS1 has some major advantages over the LT1. The heads, the aluminum block, induction, ignition etc...All around better engine by far! Its like have a BBC in SBC form. I have never seen a set of stock casting heads with some work and a good cam make 500hp out of such a small displacement engine. Truly impressive technology we have these days.
For the OP, wasnt the 1997 Corvette the first vehicle the LS went in to? Iron truck engines was later on down the road because of the LS platforms proven capabilties.
