Default New Rockers for H & C Install?

Hello everyone. I've lurked here from time to time over the years since I got my LS1 ('99Z), but I wanted to ask for some input so now Im official

This is finally the year when I get to put some goodies on/in the engine

Im putting on a set of TEA 5.3 Stage 1.5 heads. TEA recommended an FM cam (to be determined once I speak to Allen), but I think it's going to be an F4-112 (226"/226" .575"/.575" 112LSA ).

When I spoke to the shop that's going to do the work and tuning, I asked about the rockers. I thought I would just be able to reuse the stockers but I was advised against that due to the car having 83,000 miles.

I'm not looking to spend a lot of cash on rockers because I hadnt really figured those into the picture.

I want to do the right thing, so I'm willing to spend a little. What would you recommend I do?

Thanks for the input!

I would look for some low mileage stockers, if you are looking to save money.

Harlan Sharpe non adjustable rockers are going to be the cheapest alternative to a stock rocker at the present time. They can be had for $300-$350 for a set depending on the vendor.

Ok, Harlan Sharpe non adjustable....Thanks

That was one name that was mentioned by the install shop. Theyre pretty new on the scene though right? I want to make sure I try and go with something that has a good track record (work good / no issues). Anybody using them? Where'd you get them?

Harland Sharpe has been around for a long time. Not on the LS1 side, but on the old school side. They are typically viewed as bottom of the barrel junk, but I haven't seen their LS1 product.

Here's an example of what not to buy.

IMO, your stock rockers are probably fine. Hell, they are being used in a blown 427 putting out over 800hp.

I gave you the cheapest alternative to stock rockers. I've never heard of Harlan Sharpe products referrred to as junk either. There have been several posts about them on this board lately and no one has called them junk before now.

Just to clarify my statement. Harland Sharpe has a reputation as a junk rocker in the old school arena. At least in that arena, they aren't a rocker I'd spend good money on. Inexpensive, yes. Good, no.

As far as their LS1 rockers, I don't know. I haven't used them or even seen them.

Looks like we were both wrong on the spelling. Look and judge for yourself.

All right guys... Thanks for the input so far.

Well, I do think those look nice.... I just wish some folks were already using them.

I don't like to blaze a trail.

I sent you a pm. Basically if you wanted to drop 350 plus shipping on harland sharps, then thats fine. My dad put them on his car. But if you want to save some money, then low mileage stock ones are the way to go. I was actually surprised at how well they look when we took them off. They have only 5,000 miles on them. If you want, they are yours for $65 shipped
Thanks
Adam
