Default ptv with stock cam??

Hey guys, I've been trying to put a 5.3 shortblock together but I keep bumping into problems, got a custon ground cam 235/230 110lsa and when I installed it dot to do, motor won't even make a full revolution.
So, I thought, ok this cam is way too big and was gonna get it reground to a 228/228 but then I installed the old stock cam and it did the same thing, piston stop...what am I doing wrong??

5.3 stock shortblock with arp rod bolts
853 ported heads, .030" had them cc to make sure
Stock rockers
Stock length pushrods
Did use solid lifters
Cam is in dot to dot

Please help, I need this thing running!

if you are using a solid lifter are you tightening the rockers all teh way down and opening the valves .080-.100? that could be the problem. only tighten the rocker to 0 lash. Ive done that before if you arent paying attention

Whats the valve size and the bore. Maybe the valves are hitting the side of the bore wall not the piston.

I meant 2" intake, 1.55 exh...what am going to do is measure pushrod length first, with stock cam and .030" off the heads I should be using a 7.35" PR, then I'll check ptv but this time I'll tighten bolt to zero lash and see what's the measurement...meanwhile I be waiting for my custom 228 cam

Ok, so I just wanna get this straigh, I remeausure my ptv with a 235/239 .600 .580 110, with stock 5.3 short block, .051 gasket, 799 heads with 61cc chambers and I had plenty of ptv around .170 on the exhaust even more on intake so I wanna make sure am doing this right.

I installed head with gasket on, used a stock pushrod length, with #1 cyl on tdc I snugged rocker bolts, then used the eo/ic to put lifter on cam base circle and snugged bolt once again to find 0 lash, did same thing with exhaust valve. Am I doing this right? If so, I can put everything back together tonight and have her running by weekend!
