Default Oil Pressure Hiccup

I have a set of spek guages on my pillar and twice now I have noticed that the pressure has "hiccuped". My guage warning light is set at 20 psi. If it ever drops below that it flashes red. It has turned red twice just for an instant but not even long enough for the needle to point to the accurate pressure.

I have a theory but I am not positive that it could be pickup related. The first time was at 35 mph on a rough road and I hit a bump in sixth at about 1200 rpm or so. Then the second time was right after startup I backed out of my driveway and stopped then started forward and in between that stop and go it flashed once.

Anyone ever seen this before, Im guessing yes. Do i need to think about a pump?

Thanks!

The shift light in my GN powered S-10 does this occasionally, I'm pretty sure it's electrical interference or a loose connection but haven't made the effort to chase it down...

Oil pressure is directly related to Rpms. Low rpms will have little pressure and a quality gauge is designed to show that small fluctuation. Sounds like all is normal.

Your not going to see 30psi or more while at 1200 Rpms. Only if the oil is cold. Besides, that transmission is surely not meant to be driven in sixth gear at 1200 Rpms at 35mph. You shouldn't be in that gear unless your over 2k Rpms. 2500rpms is ideal not to go below. Anything less could damage the internals.

Shouldn't be in 6th gear if your under 70-75 miles per hour.

im gonna have to respectfully disagree with this. Why would they factory gear the car to run 1500 rpm at 70 down the interstate if that would damage the internals.

to maybe clarify some though I dont know what exactly I was doing when I saw the first hiccup. I just know its happened twice since ive had the guages and the first time was after hitting a bump on a 35mph road. I ASSUME it was in 6th but could have been 5th

Silly suggestion, do you have enough oil in the car?

Yeah I do that was the first thing I checked. Great thought though and I appreciate the gauge. Thanks though to everyone. I think it could be electrical though now!
