Default T Rex vs racenet's 238/240

I was checking a few sites on the net and came across Racenet. They have a cam that is 238/240 .605-.609 ona 112 Lsa by Compcams also. I know the T rex has a 110 lsa and little more lift and Dur 242/248 .608/612, my question is... would you notice any diffrence in performance and at idle? I have an A4 so I thought Racenets cam maybe be a little more drivable and not slurg as much. BTW Racenet sells this came for $339.95!

I'm not sure there'd be much more than 10-15rwhp at most, but the thing is.. Racenet.net doesn't have the best reputation on the net. I ordered 3k worth of parts from them, and alot of them were drop shipped. Some took up to a month after ordering them. I did receive all my parts. However, several others have posted that they did not on camaroz28.com, and possibly here as well. I'd try to stick with a sponser if at all possible. Especially when racenet has such a bad reputation.

Yeah I know what you mean by the month order. I have ordered many things from racenet and they do take about a month or so to get. You have me thinking twice on the cam, thanks for your help!

Chris, you would really have to have all the specs for the cam, lobe type, all that. As I have been reading, theres a lot more to how a cam acts/pulls and the power it makes than the lift, duration, lsa. Ramp rate, advance, ICl, type of lobe, and so much crap. The only way to tell you the answer between them without all that info, is to install and run each one on the same car and compare. Sorry for not adding to your answers.

Good luck,
Charlie.

Your right on the info, all that racenet gave was the basics, but I would love to try it out with these ported ls1 heads! Not sure if you could possibly tell the diffrence in the sound at idle by the info given?

just stick with one of our sponsors----------->

I do have a cam close to that size in my car right now, its a 238/242 .605/.610 112+4, but it is also paired with some ported heads, I got it from Texas Speed & Performance, they also have a few other big cams in the works.

I ordered $900 worth of stuff from them. Even though the wait was longer (3 weeks), I did get the best prices on the internet...probably saved around $300 compared to everyone else. Personally speaking, their customer service seemed to be OK.

The cam you are looking at is an off the shelf comp grind. You can get it from anyone that sells comp products. I would not order it from race net, the need to get their act together. It took me over a month to get some gears that were suppose to take 4 days.

FWIW -- last I knew that cam is sitting on the shelf over there. Its actually the same exact cam I have in my car, I got it from Dennis @ Racenet (he's local to me). Its a standard XE-R grind, the lobes are in Comp's catalog 2 degrees advance ground in BTW.

Will the AMS 239 still keep me emissions legal in California?

I'd have to guess no.

I was under the impression that putting ANYTHING in your car (including out-of-state passengers, I'm sure) is illegal out there.

Any ideas for a cam that would keep me up to snuff (sorry about the pun) with emissions and still give me some hp/tq?
