Default New LQ4 plan

I have a super budget build going on here and trying to squeeze every little bit of horsepower I can out an LQ4, My current plan is to deck the stock heads .040 and then run an MS3 cam (not set in stone yet) and flycut the pistons to clear the valves.

A couple questions here I want a cam that runs good from 3000-6500 and even though this rig is just a toy/weekend hot rod I would like to keep it streetable my goal is the 400 horse mark but, every pony i can squeeze out over that is awesome. If there is cam that I can run and dial back the amount i deck my head and avoid fly cutting that is a possibility

Heads are out of the budget for right now I tried every thing to try to stretch the budget for some head sand it just cant happen

Let me know what looks good and sounds like a bad idea also what kind of compression ratio would I be looking at with the heads decked .040

Thanks Guys

EDIT: This is going in a back halved tube chassis S10 that weighs about 2800 pounds ready to race

Screw all of that. Throw boost at it. A good tune and a ls6 cam + springs and valves alone with 317 heads would put u well over 400. Add boost and injectors and you will **** bricks in that s10

I have the ability to deck my heads free of charge and I will fly cut my own pistons I have built a few turbo set uPs before and I prefer to stay naturally aspirated on this build the only thing I'm gonna have to pay for is the valve train parts

I like the boosted idea! But, if your dead set on N/A then just get a cam ground for your engine. I don't think fly cutting that dish piston is such a good idea. If you want compression, use a set of (5.3) or 241 castings. Both could be had for cheep. DIY port work, blend the bowls, then get a cam ground for it. TSP may even recomend the MS3. But I think it was made for a 5.7.
Exampl: I've got an LQ4 in my TranAm. I'm putting 706 (4.8-5.3) heads that flow intake 295 cfm @ .600. 2.02 1.5 valves and the cam will be 232-238 .598-.598 @ 113+5 for use with nitrous. If I didn't have the heads already I would just have a cam ground for the stock engine.
I hope it all works like plan!! Good luck

Mill them puppies.. just make sure you don't go too crazy as to have a big intake misalignment issue.

Depends on your cam , and what your trying to do.. You can fly cut them just not that deep with the dish u might not even have to touch that portion, of the piston..
