Default Trunnions bearing question

Buils is going down this fall and I've heard a lot about needing to change these.. Is this something I can do myself or will they have to be sent off?? Or would I be better off just buying new rockers??

you can do them your self using large sockets and a big vise or a press.TSP sells the stock rockers already converted ,I believe you send them yours for a core .

The kit itself is like $130 and very easy to install yourself. I did mine with a hammer and socket method.

Harlan sharps don't clear stock heads...just found that out today on my buddy's 01 vette with 241 heads...and he refuses to grind the rockers so I think we might go to trunnions upgrade which isn't that hard to do...you just have to be careful if not using a press but it can be done

I'd recommend the Comp kit and I bought an arbor press from Harbor Freight to install the bearings. So you get a free tool out of the deal too

They are going on 243 heads so I'm guessing the hs's will clear. I wouldn't mind doing it myself but I'm no genius so I could possibly do more damage than good..

If you can make a peanut butter & jelly samich, you can do this. Comp kit comes with an extremely easy / picture oriented instruction sheet. Have a good set of snap ring pliers. A press is easiest but a hand crank vice will work. Just take your time and it will go smooth. These are caged roller bearings unlike oem.

here is the actual pdf of the instructions for you to check out:

http://www.compcams.com/v002/Instruc.../COMP4-126.pdf

also, watch it here on youtube:

Used a hammer and a bolt to dissassemble. Used a large socket and drill press to reassemble. (snap ring pliers too, of course). Very easy.
