Default question regarding winter upgrade plans

Since I finally have a good beater I can put my '02 Z28 down for some surgery. I want to upgrade my cam (custom EPL/PatG/Predator/TSP not sure yet), clean up my heads (prc stage 1 ls6 heads with prc 650 springs), and possibly port them a little more. They are milled to 61cc right now. I also plan on rebuilding my Moser 12 bolt.

Here's my current list:

Texas Speed PRC Stage 1 LS6 heads w/ PRC dual springs .650 lift milled to 61cc
Patriot 7.4 hardened push rods
Patriot 225/229 .580/.590 114+4 LSA Cam
LS2 Timing Chain
Ported, Polished and bump stop modded stock throttle body
SLP Lid
ARH 1x7/8" LT's
ARH 3" ORY
TSP Rumbler Catback
Moser 12 bolt with 4.10 gears
Moser Differential Cover
3" Steel Nassau Drive Shaft
Spec Stage 2+ Clutch
Tick Adjustable Master Cylinde

Here's a list of what I'm looking at getting so far:

Custom Cam
Racetronix fuel pump kit
Ported LS6 oil pump
LS7 lifters
Comp Cams Rocker Trunion kit
new push rods

Is there anything else that I'm missing/should upgrade while I'm at it?

If your new custom cam involves lifts over 0.600 inch, and you are going to use stock rockers (as suggested by trunnion kit), I would limit open spring pressures to 400 pounds, which is less than your current springs (450 pounds).

Why is that?
What springs would you recommend? Patriot?

Would changing to a spring that had an opening pressure of 400lbs or less cause less valvetrain noise/stress?

I am not recommending any particular brand of spring.

I am just saying that the oem rocker is not designed to handle open spring pressures above 400 pounds, particularly at lifts above 0.600. This is because the contact area with the valve stem is small and therefore the pressure of the rocker tip is extremely high in terms of pounds per square.

So you need to either (a) select a cam that can be controlled with an open spring pressure of 400 pound or less; or (b) go to roller rockers that are designed to handle whatever open spring pressure is required for your selected cam.

Good to know, thanks.

So from what I've seen so far:

PAC 1518 Beehive Valve Springs are capable of handling lift to .650 and have an open load of 337@1.150 and rate lbs/in of 313

Patriot Performance Gold dual spring kit :
Max. Valve Spring Lift: 0.650"
Spring Pressure Closed: 135 lbs. @ 1.800"
Spring Pressure Open: 375 lbs. @ 1.150"

So basically anything with an open spring pressure 400lbs or less is good for stock rockers if I read right
