Default cam help for dd

I need some help deciding what cam for my dd ( this is my dd for now til I get a beater). I have a 00 z28 a4 with 241 heads, Kooks LT, Kooks catted y, slp lid, descreened maf, underdrive, and some suspension work. I plan on getting cnc z06 243 heads soon and was wondering what cams are you guys running with what setups and how streetable are they? I take the car to track every few months, mainly sees light to light action and some spirited driving. I know I'm going to need a stall, valvesprings, etc. I see people say pretty good things about the tsp 224 and the 228r. Thanks in advance

Both those cams would work great, just make sure to get stronger springs, push rods.

How big of a stall and what springs would i need? I was thinking of a 3500-3600 stall and some dual springs.

I would change the rear gears when I did the stall and worry about the cam later.

I almost went with the 228r, and plan to go with the same heads in the future. I instead went with a slightly larger cam. Anyway, with the 228r I'd say 3800 stall. Also consider the Rocker Trunion upgrade from Comp, as well as LS7 lifters, LS2 lifter trays, and possibly an LS2 timing set. May as well do an oil pump while you're there. And front main seal.

3600 would be a good stall. Don't forget a tune after everthing is installed.

Pick up a set of Yukon thick gears. They aren't as noisy as the rest of them.

I personally wouldnt go any smaller that a 228R from TSP. Great choice for what you want. Throw on some 3.73, and no smaller than a 3800 stall and it will be a nice fun street car.

Doesn't GM make a set of 3.73 gears? How noisy are Yukons, I know Richmond are noisy as a ****.

3800 seems a bit large for a 224 or 228... Especially on a dd..

I would definitely go 228 if you are talking about doing the stall. You don't have to go that big on stall but if you want to it will probably be better for the track. We have been able to get away with a 2800 stall on that cam if you didn't want to go as large.

I have the 228R cam with a 4100 stall. Yes the stall is a little over kill but, a big stall is amazing thing. The 228R drives like stock and lopes its *** off. I have it on 112 LSA. I wish I went bigger on the cam. At the time it was my DD. I drove it everywhere. Even out of state.

My cam has the same specs as the V2 except for LSA. I love it. Cam only got me to 399rwhp on a dynojet with the clutch slipping at 5700rpm. The cam makes power beyond that, so I'm assuming 405ish with the new clutch. And it still putts around the city pretty good as well!

you get the correct springs and push rods in a cam pkg from TSP.consider a ls2 timing chain and the gaskets you will need.

Listen to texas speed. You don't need a freaking 3800 stall for a 228 cam. I daily drive the set up in my sig and I don't really like the stall. Way too loose in my opinion. I wouldn't mind a 278mm 3200 but the 245mm 3200 is way too loose for daily driving. That is just my opinion though. The 228 cam is a good option for you
