Can you see any of the cam lobes or lifter rollers?
I'm still looking for an answer for my valve train noise that doesn't involve pulling the heads just to look around. One guys says you can see 8 lobes, another says you can't see anything....
Who's had one apart and can tell me if it may be worth pulling the manifold to take a look?

If I remember correctly, on the ls1 there is small window at the front of the motor to see 1 or 2 lobes. The rest of the area is solid except for where the 2 knock sensors go. You will not be able to see the lifters at all as they are directly under the heads.
what mods do you have and when do you hear the noise?

I have no experience under the ls1 valley cover. But I can advise you to check out underneath the valve covers., unless your lifters are bad, everything else you will be able to check out by just by removing the valve covers.

That's what I needed.
I should have said I have an LS6, but my guess is it's all the same.
Here's a link to my valve train noise chasing thread that caused me to post the question.

I really appreciate the info as I'm looking at time consuming and costly prospecting, having no idea what I'm really after at this point.
(Steve - you were right again, why would I doubt you?)
