Default PRC 2.5 243 Heads & TSP 220R Cam

Purchased a set of PRC 2.5 243 Heads that have been milled .020 along with a TSP 220R cam. Was wondering how well this combo will work together? Got a great deal on the heads and cam and couldn't pass it up. Will be selling my NEW MS3 cam and the stock heads from my 2001 Z06 when I install this stuff so I really wont have anything in them at all after they sell.

Mods:
ARH 1 7/8 LT & O/R Pipe
Modded Ti Exhaust
Breathless Performance Vortex Intake

Car will be a supercharged car down the road just wanted to go ahead and get the headers when I found a used set cheap to pick up.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

What did you pay? A 220R? I would ditch that small cam.... I would run something like the 228R or V2/V3. Unless your going for a stock type cam with just a little more umph

I'd use the heads and then put the MS3 in there. Of course definitely check your PTV Clearance. You will have to do a lil more work ie check PTV and possibly cut valve reliefs, but the reward will be SOOO much more.

Thanks...yeah I would love to use the MS3 but figured there would be PTV issue.

Any idea what the 220R cam would produce with the setup?

I don't think you'd have any ptv issues with the MS3. I had that cam in a LS2 I had with stock pistons and 7.400 Puhrods and didn't have any issues.

Even if, for some reason, you did have a ptv issue it could be made up with the length of the pushrod.

How can the PR length fix the PTV clearance issue?

I'm running a small cam 220/224 111, FTI grind and l really like it. Lots of power down low and a mean sounding idle.

you mite make 385-390 rwhp.figure out your static compression ratio and what your dynamic compression is.maybe that cam will create too much dynamic compression for a super charger.

i had a 224/224 in my stock ls1 and it made 600rwhp to 5krpm......but i was running ethanol. if you have a chance to run e-85 do that and dont worry about it. you'll make badass power.

dude if youre on a tight budget take the prc heads and 220 cam and use it, itll be very driveable and have only a mild idle, youll freaking love it i guarantee it. You'll have power everyone and the milled heads will up your torque bigtime. You dont need flycut pistons and a 23x/24x cam with stock compression AT ALL.

i agree here, i have a 220/224 112 (278/282) .575/.575 cam and i was very surprised at this small cam. Sounds very good, people mistake it for a larger sized cam all the time. I used my stock 241 heads at first but then decided to mill them 30 thou , 3 angle grind and blend the bowls. Not much really but the difference it made without even porting them or touching the exhaust side was definately noticable - so the PRC heads should be great!

Yep. Call TSP and see what they *think* but you still need to measure. Any conmplaints with the MS3? I'd run it and sell the 220 in the classifieds. Those heads would compliment the cam NICELY.

I figured it was worth it to pick it up for the price.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I've always thought if you had ptv problems that you could put a shorter PR to make up the difference. Is this right or no?

I have this cam with Patriot stage 3 243's @63cc and made around that figure, was also planning a procharger setup!
Do you think a D1SC will have a detrimental effect on the dynamic compression

96juicedgt - if you go to sell that TSP 220 cam let me know how many miles are on it and what you need to get out of it. I may be interested if you're selling.

What intake would compliment this setup? Considering picking up a FAST intake soon if either will work well with this setup compared to the LS6 intake.
