Swapping out the heads on my LS1 to LS6. The car is a roadcourse only track car, will spend all it's running life at high RPM. Changing to an LS2 timing chain, what should I do for the oil pump? I've been offered a great deal on a new LS6 pump, but what about the Melling HV pumps, and what model would I need? Sorry I'm pretty ignorant to this whole thing, so any help is appreciated.
TIA

I'm running and would recomend the 10296 melling high pressure/ volume pump.
Are you still running stock pan or aftermarket? If you could herbal slightly larger pan to hold some more oil your motor will thank you

The high volume melling Part # (10296) will suck your pan dry if your going to be running on a road course especially if your using a stock oil pan. If I was you I would run just the high pressure melling part # (10295) it won't suck your pan dry especially if you are pulling high lateral G's, and is only $100.

A little off topic but real close ,,,,,,,,,,,,,for road racing where You're engine is going to be spending a large portion of the time in the 3000-4000 rpm range if You don't have a timing chain damper You need 1 or plan on breaking chains ,,,,,,,the harmonics in that rpm range kills chains without a damper quickly .

If money is an issue for dry sump, use an 'Accusump' works for me.
And yes for a timing chain Damper or fit an ATI pulley, I broke a dual Rollmaster using a 25% ud Powerbond.
Oil pump, use high pressure 'but not' high volume.
LS6 or Mellings

In addition to any oil pump, if its going to be dedicated auto-x/road race car. I would add a road race baffle to the stock oil pan, an accusump setup, oil cooler and remote oil filter setup as well.
baffle for LS1 pan
