Default Ms3 or ms4 and what is mandatory with them?

She's up for the winter and I'm going to try to at least get a cam in the beast. But I don't have a ton to spend on it so what's absolutely mandatory to get with either of these cams ? Ls2 double roller timing set and springs or is there more ? Any info would help thanks guys

Get the cam kit from Texas Speed (springs and pushrods) and also their cam swap bolt and gasket kit. You'll need antifreeze, oil, and filter. Depending on mileage, you might need timing chain and/or gears and oil pump.

you really dont need a double roller. an ls2 chain will suffice

You absolutely need springs, pushrods, gaskets, balancer bolt, and a tune.

I asked this question months back but thoses cams are max effort cams you r gonna spend your motor to 7k to benifit from it high flowing heads custom exhaust you might need to fly cut your pistons... If you only have little money to spend think about diff upgrades or hold off to you have the money the cam kits are about 700-800 bucks but you might as well do everything while your that far...

Oil pump
Ls7 lifters
Ls2 trays
Valve springs and cam kit
Gaskets
Oil
Coolent

And that's just the basics to take full advange to thoses cams you will need this list also
High flowing heads
Intake
Long tubes
Bigger injectors
And def a tune

I have the MS3 cam. I do like the cam at the track. In the city its a dog at low end unless revved up. I'd hate this cam if my car was an automatic. I have an m6. This cam loves nitrous and needs gears to get a good benefit from it. When buying these cams if you read the descriptions and reviews they are a max effort cam. Meaning you should do heads and have a nice flowing intake with all supporting mods. Mine dynoed 449/417 with the mods in my sig. Had 315 tires on so it robbed some of the number. Car has more in it IMO and will be seeking another tune from Lashway in the near future. If I had to do another HCI setup I don't think I would choose this cam. I have been looking into the Torquer line from Texas Speed as I have heard they are better down low cams or getting a custom cam for my setup.

That would be incorrect, we don't inflate numbers on power gains, there is a whole lot more to the equation than just slapping it in and crossing your fingers that you go fast. I've personally ran both with great success. Its more about the big picture, these are max effort cams that require the proper modifications to perform right. Just take for instance my old MS3 cam only setup, stock LS1 intake, stock 241 heads, Edge Converter, 1 3/4 headers, gears, and slp lid car went 6.86 in the 1/8th close to stock weight stripper. It shows the potential of what can be done with the Magic Stick line of cams, and what could have been done if I would have pulled weight swapped the intake, etc, etc it would have gone much faster, but as it sat it was well into the 10s cam only so whats not to like. No trickery here you just have to set the car up properly!

Thanks for the quick reply guys. And I do understand that these are max effort cams and I'm not particularly on a fixed budget but I already am getting a yank ss 3600 and at the same time I'm having the trans gone through and toughened up, and putting 3:73 gears in the rear. So I don't want to spend all of my savings ...... this winter anyway lol. I might also be getting a free ls6 from a buddy, but heads and spray are on the horizon for it. So as of now I wanted to know at minimum what was needed

i'd also recommend LS7 Lifters, for roughly $130 its worth the investment to get your stock lifters out of there. Especially if you plan on spinning this thing to 7k, it will ensure stability in the valve train

As Aaron said, you need a combo that works well and the cam will shine. As for the install-

I would defiantly get lifters, lifter treys, balancer bolt, arp head bolts, head gaskets, pushrods, prc dual springs, I have a single roller chain with no issues on my car, ported oil pump while your in there. Don't forget to save for a tune. Sounds like you have a converter already so that's a plus.

I have the MS3 with terminator heads, fast 92/92, bolt-ons, 42lb, and put down 463/420 to tires. Car is an M6. Idle is great, low end not good but with 4.10's gets to power fast.
