Spin that bitch dude. I was real against spinning my motor high until I actually built my motor. These motors NEED to spin. 346ci needs RPMs to make ~400+ at the wheels. Plus my car sounds awesome at 6800, lol.

Haha I hear ya man. Ill probably see what the tuner says when we put it on the dyno after the build is finished. If he thinks it'd be a little safer spinning it lower at the cost of a couple ponies Ill just rev it lower. But who knows I may spin it to 6500+ lol we'll see.

The auto in sig seems to do pretty well with its #s. Not an all out effort just a midrange setup. Spins to 6800 I believe. Stock rod bolts. It pulls great and sounds bad *** when it up there.

I have a 228/232/111 cam. I would not go with anything larger than that, I would probably recommend a 228R if you don't want to spin past 6500, maybe even smaller of a cam to be honest.

you guys with the 100k+ stock bottom ends ever see any blue smoke spinning up that high, I'm about to do cam/heads/ intake/stall/and LTs and I'm at 130k and when I spin it up high i see a little blue smoke, None at all regular driving just when shes tacked out. and just wondering if I should just go ahead and do rings, rod and main bearings while I am at it

Well I already have the MS3 cam so Im going with that. I may rev to 6500 but I doubt Ill see anything past that. Whether I am or am not using all the cams potential doesnt really matter to me. I dont go to the track. And any street racing done around here is usually against a Mustang GT with CAI & Exhaust or another stock camaro. Not many choices in the small town I live in. Be mostly a weekend cruiser that will have 430+rwhp when I want to open it up.

6500rpm is no problem, I spin mine at 6800 with no issues although I have an a4 to shift for me!

Eh. A cam of that size may not make 430whp if you aren't spinning it up that high. My buddies T-Rex setup made 422@6900RPMs. Big cams like that are real peaky.

Yeah I think Ive decided Ill go ahead and spin it up to 6500. There was a guy on here who did an LS1 swap into his gf's 240sx, and if I remember right he used ported 853 heads(which we all know arent "extrodinary"), LS6 intake, & MS3 cam. He made 422rwhp at 6500. Ill be using ported LS6 heads. So surely I can get close to 430 to the wheels if I spin it up to 6500. Thatll be the max I spin it to though. If it doesnt make my goal of 430rwhp then so be it. I mean Ill be satisfied with 425 or so if it makes that.

btw what is your buddies setup with the T-Rex if you can remember off the top of your head.

LS6 intake, the cam, decked 243's (I think he had .036") milled off them, 1 7/8" headers, few other things, can't really think of them.

He also has a 6 liter motor, should make the same if not more power at a lower RPM. Keep that in mind.
