I also dont find the driveability of the MS3 all that bad either. Sure its not as civilized as a stock car but its not horrible. In fact, until I just recently picked up my new dd, i I drove my MS3 TA everyday. Never gave me issues and I wouldnt hesistate to drive it anywhere. Keep the revs above 1600 and you dont get any surge.

Just so you know, most of the opinions you'll find here on the Trex cam are unsubstantiated; meaning most of those people have never owned a car with it, and are only regurgitating other peoples misleading ideas and thoughts.
You should look up opinions and numbers posted from people that ACTUALLY run one, or at least have before. I've gone 11.7 @117 on 1.7 60ft, dynoed 405 rwhp in mid summer heat, and that's a cam only stock 853 head with a few bolt ons (LT, UDP,LS6 intake) and 4.10s out back at 3800lbs. It's VERY streetable, and a blast to run! Is it the best cam out there? No, power band is a little narrow, but it's all about knowing you car.
Aside from that, you'll need to know where YOU want your powerband to be, and in any case, a custom grind cam will almost always be better suited than an "off the shelf" grind.

It's true I have not run a T-Rex but I have over cammed an engine for the street. What
I consider over cammed is perfectly fine to other people it does not mean either one is
right or wrong. Will you like it? Dunno...........

Wow, I know you want to do it yourself but out of curiosity was that quote for just the install or parts included? I didn't even pay that much for my Monster stg 3 with tick master new gm slave and install from a sponsor on here. You should find a new shop.

If you're not going to replace lifters when you do your cam swap or head gaskets or the heads themselves there is really no reason to take the heads off in the first place. Just take the valve covers off to access the springs and that's it.
Jesus Christ they are trying to rape you. We charge 320-400 bucks to install a clutch in a F-body and the slave goes in at the same time for no extra charge. Now if that was with a new slave, the clutch you wanted, flywheel, a master and possibly a bleeder line I could MAYBE see that price, but even then with all those extras it's still a bit high.

You need a cam that matches your heads, intake, exhaust Etc... Not the opposite. The cam ties the setup together and makes it work to its full potential. Also depends on what you plan on doing with your car. Gearing. All these things need to go into consideration. First think what is your goal? What do you want from the car?
