Default PRC 237cc heads

Looking for people running the PRC 237 heads and their results and combos.
Did a lot of searching, but a lot of the threads are older and still very little info to be found.

So having said that these will be going on a 408 stroker.

I'd like to hear dyno numbers, driveability, track times, any info you may have!

I know of one 408 w/PRC 237cc heads. Put down 512rwhp w/less than 500 miles. I think it will put down 530rwhp after being fully broken in. It was a M6 Vette.

I don't think you can go wrong with them.

Shows a comparison of most of the heads available that would appeal to you.

I can let you know in spring. They are a badass head no doubt.

the .750+ decklid is appealing, plus I just wanted to try something different. They look very nice. And if they flow as well as they look, im sure they will be a great choice.

the extra tabs are for use with a block that has extra head bolt holes.

Those do look nice. Im trying to get ahold of tsp about using turned down ls3 valves. I seen where someone had did the swap and the difference was 28g per valve :wow:

Thats the problem, not too many of them out there. Tsp wants $2300 for them plus $75 for powdered steel guides plus whatever it will cost for the other valves. I can get tried and true trick flow or afrs for that price. Thats what makes this challenging.

I hope not anyways. $2300 is a lot of money in my tiny wallet for anything, much less just a pair of heads so I want this money to be very well spent on a quality product thats going to perform.

Jake, here is the only sliver of info thus far that gives me some slight concern:

I am swapping out the stock 115g valves for a turned down LS3 valve. $300 to shave 28g's from the intakes is well worth it. If it cleans up the issue, I bet there is 20-25rwhp on the table. I am also leaving power on the table with a 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 header. I really need to get a 2" primary on it.

I am changing a few other things IE EWP, Porting the Super Vic intake, Bunmping the compression a little. Hoping the valves fix the float and with the other changes I can get it to go 10.20's with the current N20 verter.

According to AFR when I spoke to them, the intake valve that comes with them is even heavier than the PRC's. Not sure about out of box TFS heads.

I believe PRC offers the 237's with PM guides and TSP might work something out with the valves, again, I bought mine used so I don't know.

I am actually sending them to TEA to have the LS3 valves put in them, pm guides, gonna see about clearencing for bigger push rods. All said and done, my used heads probably will cost a little less than the TEA modified TFS heads

I agree that a lighter setup will yeild better results, less headaches and more reliability.

the "Valve float" issue with that guys stuff is probably the fact that he is using a stock lifter...stock lifters give up at about 6700~6800 rpm

buy the heads... live long and prosper... enjoy bad *** heads that require almost no work to be done to them straight out of the box..

personally, I prefer bare heads, and match the springs to your cam and rpm range.... in the end, you will be much happier than just buying a head with a set of springs that is not ideal for your setup

and yes.. I'm a set of PRC227's...
Manley Springs good to 700 lift
a lot more seat/open pressure than most people even consider running
a HUGE cam (252/274 @ .050 with .67x lift on the intake and exhaust)
a set of Morel Link Bar Lifters.... and spinning to 7800 rpm consistently

The way it was explained to me is that there is a fine balance between limiting flow vs being too big. A 10mph breeze in an alley will feel like a 40 mph wind but a 10 mph breeze in a wide open field will be barely noticeable.

Yea its a hell of a balancing act trying to decide between all the factors. I think me having the extra cubic inches though helps with the low end
