Oil pressure during WOT, is this normal?

The oil pump is a very simple device, and it does not "know" anything. At X rpm, it pushes X cc's of oil. When the pressure gets to a point, a relief valve bleeds off extra pressure, but it doesn't "drop" the pressure.
When air gets into the pickup, it compresses easier than the oil does, and the pressure will drop sharply. Yes, you may still be getting oil, but not the required volume. 50PSI of foam does not protect the engine like 50PSI of oil does.
PS - Chevy even recommends "over-filling" the Z06 if used for racing. I never let the level get down to the high mark of the stick, and run 1 extra qt at changes.

On old SBC's, a high pressure oilpump would fill the valve covers at high RPM, causing oil starvation, but I don't think that applies (that I've heard of), so I would suspect the oil pump.
