5.3l biggest cam install
Ok, so im wondering what's the biggest cam i can install in a 5.3l stock trim. I'm going to change the springs and the intake to a ls1 intake. So, what would be the best, biggest cam and stall converter i can install without machine work to the heads. Its going into a 91 firebird with 3.73 gears and 2004r trans. no headers stock manifolds.

more than likely im going to drive it everyday and do some drag racing at the track every once and a while. really, my goal is a 11 to 12 second car if possible and maybe a turbo later on down the line. i understand big isnt always good. i need to find a happy medium.

not to be offensive or anything but your seemingly being wildly unrealistic and seem to be very uninformed.
Starting off with a base 5.3l in a 3500~lb car and saying i want to daily drive and go into the 11's with "the biggest cam possible" really doesnt sound like your going to end up happy.
My suggestion is to focus on a good solid build that wont push the 5.3l past its usable limit , Start with an ls6 intake thats gonna open your powerband up , id go with a 220r from texas speed or if you want something bigger a 224R , your going to need a higher stall in your trans to put that motor in the power band with a 224r, it can be done fairly cheap if your looking to keep a budget ,
Texas speed has the cam package for around 600 with springs and you can pick up an ls6 intake on here ~400 , thatll net you around 350-360whp with a good tuner
good luck

a truck intake is better flowing the a ls1 intake ,get a ls6 intake for $350 or less.you could use a fast truck intake for some more power ,but it cost $850.check comp cams for 5.3 cams ,or go to EPS or thunder racing for a good 5.3 cam.
