On the stock internal list it has Ragemans MPH as 121.xx.. Maybe something else has changed since that setup?? I think he had the better headers then.

Since Comp is the one designing the lobes, I don't think a big split cam is not a "Trend."

There's plenty of split pattern cams out there with comp lobes. Are you copying them just with different specs on the lobes?

No negative intentions here, just wanna learn.

Thanks,
Wes

Is there a spring that will support over .600 lift that doesn't require machining of the head?

I think alot of us have become "jaded" from all the internet racing and high dollar "packages". It has got to the point where it takes something spectacular to impress me now. I have to admit that the dyno numbers and track times from a cam only ( I know it has all the bolt ons ) LS1 have completely and totally impressed me for a cost of less than $2k. Damn good job Lou, I can envision my income tax money doing some real good in the LS1 world now.

i wasnt disputing the numbers he ran, i was just confirming the fact that he went 11.5s with his previous setup and now an 11.1x with JUST THE ADDITION of the g5x2 cam. seem like his car was a beast befor, it would be good to see another car with only boltons/long tubes/tuning and see what it runs.

Not everybody is Rageman. He is serious, and fast.

I think LGM has jumped through double hoops double the time.

There is another post in this section that says "xxx company Custom cam grind" and no one has asked "What are the cam specs" of "we want you to go to another dyno or this is bunk" or some of the other statements that have been made about the G5X-2 package, either Cam or Cam and head. So with all due respect, I think it is up to the driver of the car, and the other mods that they have.
We cannot guaranty that EVERY car will turn 11.14 like Rageman with a cam only. But we all know that the potential is there.

Cams in stock. See you later.

Lou, when your cam jumps out so far ahead of the pack, questioning happens

Take it all as a compliment....just think, your setup is so impressive its unbeleivable!

I was just curious as to what made u decide on such a big split? Is it becasue LS1 Exhaust is restrictive? What is the theory behind your cam now proven? Science wise that is? Flow characteristics of LS1 Heads? Just lookin for a little insight...

thanks

Spanky,

Take your number one intake valve spring off with the piston at TDC, and tell me how much valve drop you have before the valve hits the piston. Then I can tell you if you have enough clearance with your current set up.

After you do this, give me a call, and we can figure it out.

Well, I'm not going to speak for LG regarding any of the technical details, but Louis being a friend of mine, he gave me a ride the other day down to get the car (G5X2+heads '98) washed. The thing just putts around town like nobody's business. The idle is definitely on the serious side, but once you get rolling it purrs around like Grandma's Buick.

Everyone's idea of what a cam should do/feel like/drive like is a little different, but from my personal experience, I would slap that one in my car (if I drove an LS1) and drive it every day without thinking twice.
just my .02

Best trap speed before the cam/tuning (at a 50-lbs. heavier raceweight also) was 118.04. Ran consistent 117's. Now can run consistent 123's. Here's a link to the thread I've got going now in Drag Racing for anyone who'd like to see/comment on the particulars of my run...

I have read that on a stock LS1 head you are not going to get much imrovement by increasing the valve lift to more than .550. If this is correct, wouldn´t it be safe to asume that in a cam only app. you can get away w/alot less lift w/out loosing much performance?

I have a CC306 cam in my LT1 230/244-112 About the same as this cam. The Lt1 is very streetable. So what are the lift numbers? Like you said we can't grind our own cam with just these numbers so what does it hurt? You might as well get it all out there and let everyone know it is your design.
Oh and did you see this---
