Default Lunati rocker arms

Anyone use the Lunati LS-retrofit rocker arms? They are only about $275 complete, compared to the comp trunion upgrade for $140. These are all brand new vs using the old GM bodies.

I just can't see using old rockers with 100k on them, these are new, ready to go. I'd like to get some roller rocker arms, but the research I've done, there are to many problems with them.

I have a lot more faith in Lunati than I do Comp.

I am using Lunati shaft mount adjustables for a completely adjustable valve train, $595 new. Just bolting down rockers and hoping that you're appling the right amount of lifter preload is a little sketchy IMO.

That's a GM rocker with a trunion upgrade.

85427-16

$268 for upgraded trunions + new GM rockers. GM rockers by themselves are ~$11 each. The Comp kit is $130. That's $300 right there. Yeah, it's more than twice what the Comp kit costs, but if you have 145k miles like me, why not just spend another little bit?

I just bought them. Will let everyone know how they work out.

$284 shipped from Hinson.

The bodies themselves probably won't ever wear out. They are steel. But if the tips, pushrod cups, or trunion bore have any wear on them, time to replace.

I think the trunion will be fine. I was torn between CHE and the Comp Trunions... And then this comes along... 268 vs 642 is the price difference between the CHE and Lunati trunions; both in new GM rockers. To me, that's too big of a cost delta for a part that's designed to basically keep the needle bearings out of the engine.

The rocker itself is unchanged, though the trunion takes abuse as well. The stock design actually works well, it just can be prone to spilling the needle bearings if the caps fail. This eliminates that. If the CHE upgrade was 420 in new rockers, I'd probably have done that since they eliminate any chance of failure beyond the rocker body giving out.

not a bad price at all.

so how would one tell if anything is worn out? are you just assuming with your 145k that yours must have some wear on them? if so then mine must be about to come apart...LOL hopefully not but with my cam upgrade and now pushing 420ish and about to put the juice on it too.. I think it would be a good upgrade.

Tips show wear with high lift cams. Otherwise they should be fine.

Got them today. I tested each one out by hand to see if any had any hitch and to make sure all had a little side-to-side play in the bearing. All 16 passed the side-to-side play test but 3 had a slight hitch on smooth operation. Looks like the bearing might be pressed in ever so slightly too far. I'll probably just put them in a vice with a socket and press them back out slightly so they operate smoothly.

Here are the pics:
