Default AI 243s

Just got my 243s back from AI. I had the 226cc cnc work done. Ill post pics later. I have a question and probably gonna sound like a complete ***. On the paper, phil wrote average install height 1.775. Can you guys tell me what that means. I had them milled back to the stock 65cc chambers. Im putting these on my 04 gto and im so paranoid about ptv clearance

How do you mill them back to what they were before? Milling them means they take off surface area.

What size is your cam? If the heads are 65cc, it would have to be the mother of all Donkey Dicks to not fit.

They probably CNC'd the chamber to reshape it thus increasing its volume. Then they had to mill the heads down to make up for that.

With 65cc chambers you're actually more than the stock 243s which I belive is 64.5 and only 1cc lower than the stock 241s that you are presumably taking off.

Either way that is not much and you should be able to run a decent size cam. Do you have the specs on what cam you plan on running? Also what headgasket thickness?

the 1.775 average height is referring to your valve spring height.

Bingo. Keep in mind many don't even bother to measure so it's a statement to the work that he did.

Thats a pretty decent donkey dick cam i believe thats their 287 series cams right?!. I used to run that with 853 heads and had no ptv problems made 399rwhp with a 90/90 fast setup.

Measure measure measure....I ran a 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa cam in my stock cube 346 and when I pulled the heads to port them I had marks on all the pistons where the intake valves just kissed them...i got luck and didn't bent or break anything, all it takes is one too many over revs to do a bunch of damage

The installed height has no bearing on PTV clearance. I would double check PTV just for reference before final install.
