Default Those With Headstuds...Chime In.....

yes ive searched but ive read way too many different conflicting answers....so is there enough room to install heads with the engine in the car using headstuds in a 2000 f-body? if so, can ALL the studs be screwed in before installing the head?or are they screwed in after the head is set in place?

any heads up or pointers are welome also.............

I have studs but not a fourth gen. I doubt you will be able to get the head on with the studs already in (Because the back area and booster are tight)

Try it and see. You cam always remove the studs that require it and leave the rest.

Of note, I highly suggest the holes are squeaky clean so the studs thread right in.

the answer is NO. You Must remove a few of the rear studs in order to install or remove the heads.

Are you guys crazy?

YES YES YES you can. Trust me. I've done it several times, and I have Spohn solid motor mounts so my block is actually a half inch HIGHER.

The first pic was BEFORE I cleaned my block of all the filth!

hu? I've always put a rubber band(s) or tape on the rear 4, and set the head on with the studs in the holes (up, not sticking out the deck). I know back in the day some cars it was super close, to forcing them in. And didn't want to drag the rear head studs on the car scratching it up, so just did that to be safe and it was faster, doing installs. I remebed too working on a car (fixing it) and it had a hole in the HVAC, the owner did getting the head stud out.

Remember too the later blocks use the shorter head bolts/studs on the ends, so the earlier ones will be longer and need more room.

You could also put the heads on, thread the studs in after.. Then torque nuts...

It's easy, it doesn't matter if you put the studs in first or after you put the head on.. Your making it more complicated than it really is lol, don't worry I've done that too..

you might just have to thread the last couple of studs under the cowl, but you might not...

why are you switching to studs? just curious..
