Default water in cylinder

Ok i just got a 6.0 from the junkyard. It was there about 6 months with the hood off exposed to weather but we fired it up in the wrecked denali and it sounded fine. Got it home and took the heads off and in one of the cylinders it appears it had water standing in it. It is no longer smooth to the touch. i was wondering how many have ran into this issue and if you were able to hone it to fix it or if you had to bore it out.

A hone would probably clean that up... I personally wouldn't run it as is.

Yes I'm trying to figure out if a light ball hone would take that out but I don't want excessive piston to wall clearance as I want to reuse the stock pistons. What are yalls opinions on this? Or should I save my money until I could bore it out and stroke it and blow my "budget" build?

A ball hone should take away any light rust/corrosion on the walls.

The rust stains aren't bothering me. If you look at the picture closely you can see a half moon shape on the cylinder wall that mirrors where the carbon is off the cylinder. Its like a puddle of water sat in that cylinder for a while. It has a rough feel to it.

If it's pitted, it'll eat the ring and you'll lose seal. It generally takes more than a few thousandths to get it clean up, a dingleberry hone won't do anything for it. I know there are .005 and .010 over forged pistons - does anybody make a budget hyper at .005 or .010 over for this app?

Yeh I haven't really found any budget oversize pistons for the press fit rods. Anybody know if there are some?

I didn't think the piston was dependent on whether the rod pin has a press or float fit...
