help! no oil pressure after rebuild
i just got done doing a rebuild... freshly rebuilt 98 block with arp rod bolts, main studs, new bearings all around, tsp cam, tsp ported ls6 oil pump, 243 heads, and a 92/92 setup; motor starts perfectly just have no oil pressure... popped the valve cover off and there was no oil inside the head, took the oil filter off and it was full of oil. not sure if it takes a while to pump the oil through the block or if im having a serious problem. i know for a fact the oil pump and drive gear is installed correctly, any help would be much appreciated!

Did you install the little oil barbell in the block, it is taken out when the machine shops cleans the block. IIRC it is behind the rear cover. I have seen people forget those in the past and have little to no oil pressure when they go prime the engine.

X2 on the bar bell it's behind the rear cover or it could be the freeze plug in the front of the engine behind the timing cover. If the machine shop removed them and they or you didn't reinstall you will have no pressure.
Also next time you crank the engine to check for pressure unplug the coils and pull the fuel pump fuse. You will build oil pressure with just the starter rpm's.
Freeze plug...
Plastic bar bell...

I agree with conan on the barbell and freeze plug. A lot of times they will not re-install the barbell or install a new one and you have to do it.
Also, might sound odd but, did you mount the pick up tube correctly? Lol

Barbell??? At least it is a relatively easy fix. Not questioning you about needing the part number, but one had to come out of it when you disassrmbled the motor, so what could you have done with it?? FWIW, without it, the pump is pumping oil through the filter, then right out the back off the block and back into the oilpan...so its the most likely thing if you have a filter full of oil.
