That's not always the case. The main reason why most tuners like to use a dyno is because they can keep a steady state load on the car. I feel when a car is tuned it should be tuned on the dyno and street.

Whether its tuned on the street, dyno or track. There needs to be a constant to base off of. I agree though tuning on the dyno for power or track for power and street for part throttle/drivability is best.
Those mail order tunes are hit or miss though, IMO i can't see how confident a tuner can be while not actually being infront of the car and tweaking etc... That being said they're always a bit conservative and on the "safe side". There are WAY too many variables for that to even be a viable route to go with when dealing with mods like the mods OP has.
Id take a dyno tune over a mail order tune all day.

Agreed on all accounts. Geoff and I had a decent discussion on this, and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I know his DynoJet places a 3k pound load on the rear tires. Once the cold idle/start up, hot idle/start up tuning was done, the WOT tuning was completed on the dyno. Then we spent the remainer of the day on the road.

I don't know where you guys are coming up with this "mail order" tune ****. I never once mentioned anything about a "mail order" tune and wouldn't waste a red cent on a "mail order" tune. My tuner fully street tuned the car and did probably more WOT tuning on the car than you would get with any dyno tune. They went through damn near a full tank of gas tuning this thing and getting it setup perfectly. I'm fully confident my tuner has this thing setup to make maximum power and torque, as he's been tuning for a long time and has done countless LSx cars and trucks. Dyno numbers and track times will be the true test. If there is a significant amount of power left on the table, then I'll consider having it dyno tuned, but I'm trying to do this on a budget here. As of right now, I'm looking forward to having the car dyno'd, getting to the track and doing a bunch of street racing before the end of summer.

Well, Redline Performance had not openings at all last week when I was on vacation, per this e-mail from Andy:
Nathan,
Unfortunately we are booked up for the entire week. I might be able to
do a saturday the following week if you would like.
Thanks
Andy
I'm going to try to get dyno time scheduled for August 5th (my birthday), as I'll be off work.

Yeah, I like the idea of a 17/15 setup and I think the black chrome Darkstars would look killer with Pewter, but I'm affraid of the ABS thing. If I go that route, I'd love to do a 325/50/15, but what front tire would I need to make things the same height and not have issues with ABS?

You'd need at least a 27" tall front tire.
I wouldn't drive a skinny tire setup on the street btw. They understeer like a bitch. Especially with a 28" tall drag radial on the rear. Might as well get used to taking corners at 15mph.
So you'd be looking at the 17x9.5" front darkstars... And then a 27" tall tire or taller doesn't play nice with the front of the car on something that wide (265+ series).

Oh come on, its not that bad with skinnies on the street! Lol, I have been driving mine daily with the 28's out back and the skinnies up front, def some understeer and roll going in the curves but its not that bad, not that im trying to road course or anything haha.
