Default !!HELP!! I Dont Get it??

Okay well I bought a 98 Z28 and I've done a whole bunch of different things to it I mean I've done Oil Change, Coolant Flush, Trans Cooler, 160 Degree Therm, MSD wires, NGK plugs, pacesetter long tube headers, off-road y pipe, electric cut out, Mgangnaflow Cat Back, Granatelli Lid, LS6 intake swap!!! The lid and the exhuast was on the car when I bought it There were 4 Vac Leaks that I fixed Also and The Car Does NOT Feel That much Faster At ALL yeah quicker but for adding somewhere near 50 RWHP You can't really tell like I have a 25-70 Mph when I got it and a New one They Look Pretty Similar??? WTF is going on??? Has anyone went through this??? And Can a Tune Really Fix all This?? Cause that's what I been hearing Get a Tune! Get a Tune! But for some reason I can't totally believe a Tune can fix The Whole issue? But I will Add I'm running Really Rich!!!

No I said "Near" a Ls6 Swap is Good for 15-18 and the LT's are good for 20-25 the Cut out is Good for 4-6 so Low end your looking at 39 RWhp High End 49 RWHP .. And that's not Counting the Lid which is 8-10 and a Magnaflow CB is another 10-12 add those in and your in the wheelhouse of adding 57-71 RWHP and I can't feel the difference or see it???

i gained 82 rwhp with a decent size cam, longtubes, electric cutout and dynotune. no way in hell u can dyno over 50rwhp with lid/ full exhaust. probably at most 25-30rwhp and thats with a dyno tune.
when i dynoed my car "mostly stock" it did 325rwhp/342rwtq with only an slp lid, smooth bellows and k&n filter. same day my buddy 02 camaro ss m6 with slp lid, dynatech longtubes, gmmg exhaust diablo tune did 333rwhp.

That's kinda what I thought, especially with no tune.

Default Wanna buy my bridge in Brooklyn???

Just ribbin ya, but if you believe all you hear from the go fast advertisers, maybe ya'all will give me an offer!

Seriously::: You have a great start there. All the first items you note, the cleaning and better quality items WILL make your car run better and longer, yet with no kick in the pants feel. but all are REALLY important to start with.

Now you need to look at how you can use that better running and functioning engine. Wake up the sleeping beast.

You now have an engine that CAN breath better, both intake and exhaust, plugs that will burn dependable and an intake that has the ABILITY to flow better and more air. Yet you seem to still have the computer telling the engine none of this has happened. It will be feeding it minimal gas and air, keeping all potential mileage and original settings.

So yes, you do need a serious tune, but realize NO TUNE would have helped if you had not done these things. So with a tune you probably will feel a difference. BE REALLY CLEAR with your tuner what your desires are. If you ask for an all out speed tune, you will have limited drive-ability, starting and over heating problems and no mileage...If you just want to spin the tires, you can get a great deal of torque programmed in but you have to set the RPM for this to happen and I suspect it will chop off your top end speed. But that torque is what will give you the flash and kick in the pants feel you are looking for. Just don't go racing! (Note that torque is what puts the most stress on all your car parts. Torque (and the associated lead foot) is usually the culprit behind broken engines, transmissions rear ends and axles.)

And still, even all this will just help out SOME, not a whole lot. As stated here, it will take cams, throttle bodies and injectors and more such to ever get out of the 13s even 12s into the 11s or better.

For this, you usually have to step up to some larger single expenditures. You have been putting small amounts in over time, you would now need to take that time to save up all those dollars and have $2000 to drop at a single time (cam swap with the other items needed with it). The larger hp changes have a lot of associated changes that have to go with them.

ALL the guys on here will happily help steer ya when you are ready for those steps.

Ok search all of these Boltons and what ppl Dyno and most ppl with the same Setup are Getting 340-355 RW Depending on the car!!! These cars stock start out at 285-290 stock c'mon Guys ask ppl what they pull out of the LS6 swap and everyone says 15 and Read what they Dyno with a Header Set up! 20-25 don't make me look Crazy I know what I'm talking about! So with those 2 alone is Lowball 35 now add Lid, Cat Delete, CatBack, Cut out I don't know why ppl jump on the Band wagon on these sites I've built cars before I know what's up.. But you read these things daily if guy says from an Ls6 alone he gained 15 you say Yeah that's about right! And if that same guy tells you He put Headers ORY "You" say oh well yeah you should get 20-25 out of the Headers because of the LS6 and Vice Versa sometimes ppl Dont take into consideration what they've said on here before! So your telling me Lid,LS6 Swap,Pacesetter LT's,Electric Cut out,Cat Delete,MagnaFlow Catback is only 30-35 HP what Is wrong with you Fellas lol

post a video of it up on here and is your car a 6spd or A4? Either way your numbers are going to be around mine but we need a video of the tune.

It's only like a 10% power increase which MIGHT be noticeable from a "seat of the pants" viewpoint if all the mods were done at once. If the mods weren't all done at the same time, you probably won't notice the gradual power increase between mods

Actually the more I think about it you have a good foundation of a car. If you didn't know already no matter what numbers you put up you still can beat a stock Gen 5 Camaro SS you should be proud of that. I know I was when I had the same mods as you. And don't be so fixated on the Dyno numbers because they are irrelevant as well i learned a lot from this forum the only thing that matters is what your time is at the strip so just get a tune and go to the strip and see what you run. You can be putting huge numbers down on a dyno and still get beat by someone that has far less numbers than you.

On every car i put headers on 05 gto 2008 vette the butt dyno never felt any different than stock. They always sounded better. You need atune to take advantage of all your mods.If you believe all those mods give you the horsepower they claim i have some things i can sell you.

you said the lid and exhaust were on it when you bought it but then list it among the items you've done?

oil change, coolant flush etc are maintenance items and aren't going to do anything. You added weight with a trans cooler. You added maybe about 40 whp. Gains are all exaggerated by manufacturers and you can't take the highest claims from a bunch of individual parts and add them up. Parts complement each other. Without a tune all this extra air movement you've produced doesn't really do much but make better sound.

Add heads, cam, and injectors to the list and let me know how the car runs without a tune...

Get a tune!
