TSP Heads/Cam Package Thoughts?

Default TSP Heads/Cam Package Thoughts?

TGIF everybody. Newbie poster here, but I do read quite a bit. Next summer I would like to start putting together a heads/cam package and I would like a few opinions.

For starters, car is 2004 A4 GTO with 77k miles. Mods are in the sig. I have looked at a few options and the one I seem to keep coming back to is the TSP stage 2.5 LS6 heads/cam package with a 228R cam. I am looking to do the following at once:

Stage 2.5 243 Heads
228R cam
Fast 92/92
Stall (not sure yet, probably a 3600)
Oil pump (not sure which one)
All the other drivetrain pieces (havent really looked into yet)

To anybody who runs this TSP package, what are your thoughts? As I dont have 243 heads yet, Id rather just purchase new ones in a package vs getting used ones and sending them to AI (this would be my other option).

What could I expect to put down with this setup? Should I consider a larger cam? Its not a full daily driver, but I do drive it most of the spring/summer and fall. I will of course be doing an oil pump and the supporting mods to go with this. Im fairly certain this setup is what I want, just looking for any opinions good or bad.

I appreciate any feedback. Lots of great information on here!

That's a good proven setup for the money! I'm running TSP stage 2.5/5.3 heads along with a Torquer V2 and LS6 intake. For such a budget combo I love it!

That is a very drivable setup and will put down good numbers. I don't have h/c but have been doing research and am thinking about this cam but with stage 2.5 5.3 heads

It is a great all round cam, if you want something a little bigger you can step up to the Torquer V2 or V3. Make sure you get lifters while you are there too. I'd also do the trunnion rocker upgrade too.

Alot of people seem to talk highly of the stage 2.5 5.3 heads too. I personally always wanted the 243's, but im sure either set would be great.

I plan on doing the timing chain, lifters and all the goodies while im in there. Id rather do it once and not have to worry about something failing within a couple of thousand miles if I dont.

I also did look at the V2 cam as it was a little bigger than the 228R. Decisions, decisions lol...

I have the TSP 228R and when I added TSP 2.5 5.3 heads it gained 48rwh/21tq. It gained everywhere.

I have the 2.5 5.3L heads, torquer v3 ported fast 92 and put down 460/424 on Friday. The car is a beast.

I have the 228r in cam-only C5Z and put down 408whp. (stock LS6 heads/intake)
