Default Difference betweeen these 2 cams

228/228 .575/.575 112 lsa

or

227/224 .569/.563 114 lsa

After seeing the specs of Lou's new cam, the cam that I used to want (224/224) seems puny. Would there be much surging with the 228/228? Will it be a dog until it hits around 3,000 rpms?

This will be on a M6 with all of the boltons.

Thanks.

more top end with the first cam for sure, with that 112 lsa.

Don't get caught up with all the big cams now offered. remember when you go big you tradeoff low end, also with lou's cam and I need to verify this you need to flycut the pistons due to p/v clearance.

I like that g5x2 cam too, but I'm afraid it might be too extreme for me, and I dont want to change valve springs every year..

I don't want to change springs that often either (that's why I put .575 on the spring lift). I just don't want to pick too small of a cam, especially with these newer, bigger cams coming out making huge power.

ChitTownSS,
I'm also from Chicago, it sucks not being able to drive your car that often in this damn snow!! I'm getting a Comp .224/224 .581/581 114-LSA installed on my car on Wed. at Speed Inc. Also the ASP pulleys, 3200 VIG converter & dyno tuning. How do you think my #'s will look in my first dyno. 2002 Z28 & SS

Yeah, I'm probably going to go with them on the install too. I just don't know which cam to pick.

That reverse split dur. cam (227/224) will probably make more power on a naturally aspirated application. Also, with stock heads you will NOT have to flycut the pistons with that cam. If you're heads are milled, you may have to check P/V clearance.

Yeah, I will have stock heads til next year. Then, I'll go with some stage 2's. If I do go with the 227/224, I think I'm going to get it on a 112 lobe. Anyone have this cam?
