Used a Summit LS block 3 month ago to assemble my 370 inch TT setup.
The cylinder measured within 2/100 mm within the piston mfg. specs, from top to bottom measured also 90 deg. to the thrust axis.
That is more then adequate if you using out of the box forged pistons for a mild turbo setup - what i did.
Main bearing bores were line honed (also nicely within factory specs.), decks machined, threads cleaned, cam bearing installed.
All the block needed was a good cleanup prior to assembly.
personally i would not expect more for the amount paid.

Our goal is to always ship products in perfect condition. We do not want you to be unhappy with your purchase and would be happy to either bring the block back for a full refund, or exchange it for another block. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please PM me your preference and I can take the appropriate steps to make this right for you.

My machine shop said the same thing. Said the machine work wasnt bad but they do not use a torque plate.

So basically once you put a plate on it it needs to be a .40 over block.

I still have it sitting there bc i couldnt use it... Waste of money for me.

We always require a piston set be here before we start trying to finish hone a block. You always want to make sure you machine as per the pistons you are dealing with. Not trying to say other people are doing it wrong by any means, just how we prefer to do it.

What is the difference between a deck plate system and a torque plate?

I purchased a summit block. Mic'd it myself. Everything was well within spec. I think the real issue here is trusting your machinist. I trust no one so I purchased the equipment to perform my own measurements. I am not a professional builder, but I took some classes at a JC for fun. Everything I have ever read says check and re-check. So that's what I did. I wouldn't care who the builder is or what their rep is. Everyone has a bad day at work every once in a while. Even the best builders in the business...

So with help from Oscar from Summit Racing I did an exchange on the block that I was not satisfied with. His attitude, concern, and professionalism gets an A++. Received the exchange block today and it looks like a brand new block, really nice. In retrospect, I should of probably called Summit before posting negatively.
Thanks Oscar.

Glad you got it all taken care of. Summit is such a big and reputable company, I couldn't see it going any other way than it did.

I've had to deal with returns with Summit. They are awesome in that regard. And with their price match and free shipping right now, they've been getting a lot of business from me here lately...

I bought a summit racing block. Its a pretty good block if you need one for a boat anchor. Main bearing bores were oversized, and one of my cylinders was .0015 bigger then the rest. I had my machine shop check it with torque plates on it. He said he could make the main bearing bores work but they were not ideal. Couldn't machine the one cylinder smaller. Summit told me this was all in spec. Since I'm from canada the shipping will be close to the price of the block if I return it. Lesson learned. Would have been quicker to just burn the $750 then I would have further along on my build.

I agree. I've never be let down by their customer service. They get a bad rap for being a big parts dealer. But they are big for a reason. I've had them call to double check online orders as well to make sure everything was done right.

I highly recommend them.

this is what I got….here are my measurements with a .0005 dial bore gauge on the 4 drivers side cylinders…top, center, bottom readings…parallel and perpendicular to crank

THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE WAY OFF....GETTING 4.0295 + OR - .0005 OOPS
