Default prc,afr,tfs,dart

thinking of doing ls1 with eps 222/226 115.what will be the best head for the cam selected.i no some heads like overlap some do not but cr will be 11.0 so will the tfs 215,afr 210-215,prc 215 or dart be better.i dont want to hear about another cam that bigger with lope im building a sleeper,it will have a ported fast intake also.no need to say get a 6l because i havent seen no hp difference in the two engines not concerned about better head selection if i go 6.0 not worth it

is this a dd, street car, looking for a hp number, a track time? depends on your budget and what you want to do with the car. if you want ***** to the wall you could go some PRC 227 or AFR 215 230 which those will run 2500+ bucks.

i dont think with heads over lap doesnt matter, (i think) correct me if im wrong. only matters if your going FI or N/A and what not.

are you going turbo, NA or what?

AFR, TFS, PRC, and throw the DART idea right out the window. That order is how I would buy them if I had the money.

Maybe you need to do a little research before throwing out blanket statements like that about Dart heads.

OP, look at this link I've posted. I have the Advanced Induction Dart/RHS heads and they are bad ***.

Call Geoff @ EPS and see what he says. He always answers the phone.

(225) 751-8500

He's tuned that cam countless times and can tell you first hand what would work and what he's seen. EXTREMELY knowledgable guy.

When you talk overlap, you're confusing the rectangle port LS3 heads and the cathedral port LS1 heads.

LS3 heads don't do as well with overlap due to the funky intake to exhaust flow ratio and gigantic intake valves. They have reversion issues with too much overlap.

Cathedral port on the other hand just keeps making power with overlap.

Some heads require less of a duration split than others, like AFR heads, since their exhaust flow is so tremendous.

I'd look at a set of ported LS6 heads from TEA or Advanced Induction. If you want a sleeper, run stock GM heads that flow and make power very similar to that of the aftermarket castings. It'll be cheaper and lighter as well.

I've been thinking about either 5.3 AI heads or some PRC's. You honestly can't go wrong with any of those.

Why waste money on heads, if you are not going to get a camshaft for the heads? Bassaackwards. Call the person that designed the cam and ask them.
Btw, what ever idiot said the dart head should be thrown in the trash should not give advice. For the money from http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX/AiLSx223ccDartHead.php
The dart head is a bad *** head as is the case with all AI work.
$1,900.00 with Manley springs is AWSOME price. But with the cam you mention the lunati spring at $1,745.00 would be fine.
Although the TFS as cast is the best bang for the buck.

I don't want to waste money on stock castings I don't care what the dyno says the track proved to me aftermarket vs stock.ive seen some of the best cnc stock castings out 243-226 flow 300 at 600 I've seen tfs 215 flow 320 at600 at the track same car same cam tfs was 3 tenths faster.if I was going with a bigger cam I would consider stock heads but I'm trying to make the most power under the curve sounding stock.

If under the curve power is what you want, I have to say, the SNS Torque Max Stage 2 cam I have from Tick Performance (Martin Smallwood), delivers that. Coupled with the Advanced Induction Dart/RHS CNC'd heads, running 11:5.1 compression, it's a torque monster that carries power well past 6500 rpms.

I see. Than I'd say you anserwered your post. TFS as cast for money. Brian Tooley has the best price and can set them up for your needs.

Im just saying, take a look at the fast list and see who is running Dart heads......

Then take a poll and see who has heads other then dart. I bet im not the only one who would think the other options are much better performers.

X2 on dart, funny how everyone knocked them when mine were out of the box. A port/valve job and im still in them for much cheaper than any of the others mentioned and perform as good or better than $2500+ heads. Any of the heads mentioned will work fine, def get the darts ported if you decide on them.

Once I get my car dyno'd, I think you, and others, will be singing a different tune. First off, anything Advanced Induction touches with their CNC machines is gold and according to Phil at Advanced Induction, the Advanced Induction Dart/RHS CNC'd heads are worth anywhere from 10 to 15 rwhp/rwtq over their coveted 232cc CNC'd 243/799 heads and we've all seen how much power they put down, not to mention the low ET's. I got the Advanced Induction Dart/RHS heads for less than $1,600 (without springs), which is way less than a new set of TFS or AFR heads cost. If you're an actual "class" 1/8 or 1/4 mile racer and need to get every single bit of HP out of the car, then yes, I agree that TFS would probably be the better choice.

Okay, well you after a stock sounding idle... even the 222/226 115 won't be stock sounding. It won't be super lumpy, but it still has a lot more overlap than stock. I guess you could raise the idle more to smooth it out.

And flow numbers mean jack ****. Some of the fastest cars I've seen run stock heads. It's all about the combo. Tire, gearing, cam, heads, and suspension.
