Default Push rod length

I have the Lunaiti Link bar high rev lifters and their roller rockers with studs and guide plates. I used a push rod length checker with dykem blue, I got a good pattern right in the center of the valve and I got 7.3 for length, which makes it shorter than stock. Just trying to see if this is normal to need a shorter push rod with this type of setup.

Thanks in advance.

Wipe pattern?? Are you using stud mounted rockers?

Yeah, I have the comp cams studs with guide plates under them, but they arent the shaft mount rockers if thats what your talking about. I know the guide plate makes a difference because I put the stock 7.4 lenght push rods in without them just to see what the wipe pattern looked like and it actually looked good but with the guide plates they were off and pushing away from the intake. Then I put the comp 6.8 pushrod checker in and turned it ten times and that seems to give me the right pattern. Just kinda seems weird that I need a shorter push rod.

I believe the Lunati lifters are made by Morel. If that is the case, then the smaller preload and taller lifter result in approximately 0.100" shorter pushrod based on my measurements. If everything it set up properly and the measurements are correct, I wouldn't be surprised you found you need a shorter pushrod.

Ok great thanks, I just needed a second opinion for what I got. Plus I just ordered the 7.3 push rods. I should have them by the weekend so I will install them all and double check. Hopefully they are right becuase I dont think I can return them since its a special order.

Same lifters here but w/ an LS6 cam and stock rockers, my pushrods are 7.275" and it's quiet as a mouse. Measurements taken with the same Comp 6.8" checker tool.

Yeah I installed them and did the wipe test and they are perfect at 7.3. I used the same checker, I suppose the small difference is head gasket thickness difference.
