You'll get opinions all over the map on this question, but here's mine...Delco UPF-44. Synthetic glass media, great filtration and flow, a tad cheaper than the K&N if you buy a 6-pack from GMPartsDirect.com

Unless you do an oil analysis, you have no idea how your oil filter if working for you. The Ultra Guard Gold UPF 44 is an awesome oil filter. See the results here. (pay attention to the insoluables)

Your tin is a little bit high. You obviusly drive your car hard. It also looks like your oil sheared out of grade. Your filter works well but you should try Royal Purple Racing 41, German Castrol, Amsoil, Redline, or M1.

That oil had a ~400 mile round trip (semi vacation) on it plus a road race at Texas World Speedway. I don't drive my car hard at all. The Z06 is my GF's car and she drove it on a road trip, then on a road race. After all that ending up with what she did I think is awesome. Tin shear... 5 found vs. 5 average vs. 3 univeral... pfft! lol come back when you have an argument.

Minivette,
I was not trying to argue with you. However, from the tin it was obvious that some wear was present from hard driving. The fact that the car had been raced confirmed that. I was mearly trying to be helpful by pointing out that you might have less wear by using Royal Purple Racing 41. You might want to see for yourself by checking out www.bobistheoilguy.com No flame was intended.

Mobli1 M-206. this one is a little longer than the stock filter for the LS1. I haven't had any problems with ground clearance. Sits just a little lower than the oil pan but not too much.
