I mainly suggested it for a quieter valvetrain, and to cut down the overall (max) cam valve lift, and to give it a little more duration without effecting the overlap very much at all.

What's your guys' take on the Tsunami cam?

I have a feeling it is way to big for a DD and someone who wants low end, but there is one for sale locally for a good price and I thought I'd ask, maybe get lucky.

I've read that it's a pain to tune, and that they aren't so much a cam for low end. Just thought I'd ask..

I gotcha. It was just one of those deals that you have to ask about. haha!!

Anyway, my next question is what's the difference between XFI/XER lobes and the lobes that you had previously mentioned?? I looked at Texas-Speed and the only lobes they say on their website are XFI/XER lobes.

I'm lost and I think I'm starting to bite off more than I can chew for a custom grind cam. lol

I also just checked out Vinci cams. What is the consensus on these cams? Anybody running them?

You may want to get in contact with Brian Tooley ( www.briantooleyracing.com ) . I just did his stage IV ls1 n/a cam and am working on getting the tune dialed in. So far, i've felt little-to-no loss on low-end without adding any spark yet. Even if this specific cam isn't for you, his customer service is second to none and he will be able to spec you something for what you want.

I'm liking his stage II but I don't really know if it will be enough. I'm going to do some research on him.

So you have any videos of your idle? I'd like to know how good they sound.

Crane does all their cam grinds, they have a good selection of small cams and they seem to a lot softer cam lobe ramp rates then the Com Cams. I haven't heard thing bad, but I also don't know anyone that runs anything like what I think would suit your wants.
If you want to look at someone besides Comp then contact EPS since cam Motion does his cam grinds now, and also Look at Bullet Cams, they seem to have a good selection of lobe with various ramp rates and lifts.
Add to that list Flowtech Induction!

I believe that MMMichael is looking for better/more low-end power, a custom grind would be the way for him to go with if he goes with a BTR cam.

I've searched and searched and it seems like there are tons of cams out there, all I would like to do is narrow down my search because it's starting to be a little overwhelming.

Any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks!

My 228R kills it down low. It surprisingly pulls strong up top too. I vote 228R with 4.10 gears.

That is a good sounding cam!! Healthy!!

Is your car an M6? And what do you feel like you've gained from the 228r? Down low that is....

What if we went a step up from the 228r with the 233/239 cam??

Are these going to give me the low end I'm looking for? Maybe not more so than a custom grind but enough to satisfy?

IMO, If you want a nice compromise between low-end and top-end power without raising the CR, then keep the intake duration to 228 or less and the lsa to 112 or less, and 3-4* advance.
BTW, the smaller cams I suggested, will still have better low rpm TRQ.

M6. Green line is cam only, red line is 228R + TSP 2.5 5.3 heads. Dyno is also on the stingy side. If you go much bigger on the cam it will feel weaker down low. I almost ran the Torquer v2 but im glad I didnt.

232 and up starts dropping low end torque fast 228 cams are hit or miss from most drivers opinions as to whether they lost a smidge or gained a little. Probably icl dependant. I think you should focus right now on a cam like eps 226/230 and worry about the major torque increase when you do heads in the form of compression increases.

This is what I am planning on getting... 99% sure.

Hows the valvetrain life on them?
