Default 2004 gto heads and cam build help, and goals.

Hey everyone I am new to the ls1 world. I just got a 2004 gto m6 car. Only mods at this time are full exhaust, and intake. my first step I want to go with is a nice head and cam package. suspension and tires, and other things I am working on now, but the ls performance world is new to me. so questions I have are
1. is it possible to get 410-430 to the wheels with a stock bottom end ls1 with bolt ons and a good hci setup.

2. who do I get the heads and cam from??? I heard a lot about AI, tsp, and some off the shelf brands E.G. AFR, Trick Flow. Who is a good bang for the buck and who can get me closer to my goals power wise.

3. it has an ls6 intake already and reading about them they seem okay. is the FAST intake a better choice. various sizes I know, but that can be decided after a small engine build. is the fast worth it??

so I thank you all for having me, and last but not least the car will be driven often. more as a toy as I live 5 minutes from work so street manners are not everything to me. smog here shouldn't be an issue either. So all choices of cams are considered.

YES!

Bang-for-the-buck, have your factory heads cnc ported and milled by A.I. .
I'd stick with your LS6 intake, you might not need to upgrade to a FAST intake to meet you goal.

I'd also recommend stepping up to 3.90 or 4.11 rear gears.

Take a look at these cams:

You don't even need h/c/i to reach your power goals! 410-430 is easily reachable with just cam only (with supporting valvetrain of course) on an ls1 with an m6 with the right cam. especially since you are saying that emissions aren't an issue.

Welcome to the club OP! I to started out out with an 04 m6. Get yourself some headers, get a nice custom grind from either Ed Curtis at flow tech inductions or Martin @ Tick performance. Both are top if there game and couldn't go wrong IMO. As far as heads there are a lot of good option out there, having your stockers ported is one of them. Get to work!

Thanks guys I was reading about the 241 heads. Some say its not worth it to pur money into them, it just get some 241 heads or ls6 heads. Do the 241s have potential?

I think you mean 243's? Yes they have potential, more compression right off the bat. Then again you could have your 241's milled to bring it up.

I could be wrong but I think the casting numbers say 241... is there such things as 241 heads?

Oh I misread your post. Yes stock gto's come with 241's on 2004, 05 and 06 are 243's. I may be wrong here but I'm thing the only difference between the ls6 heads and your 241's is the combustion chamber.

IMO, if you want new heads I'd consider the TrickFlow 215cc, with them milled down for a 60-62cc Combustion Chamber Volume(CCV) .

From research I have done, correct me if i am wrong but a set off ported 241 heads may net 10 whp over stock ls6 or 243... does this sound right?

Of course, a set of ported 241's will out flow stock 243's. But ported stock 243's will make more power than ported 241's due to combustion chamber.

Okay thanks again for the info. so what about having the 241s ported and milled down to get the compression up. Also I will be taking the car to Cecil, Atco, maple and tracks around the north east next year or at that's the plan at least. Is it a realistic goal to shoot for mid 11s if I get the goat to lets say 3300-3500 pounds and a spot on tune and set up? with the power I want 410-430 to the tires?
