"The lines that run from the radiator to the connections by the oil filter or where does that line go to?"
Trace the line[s]... If that line goes to the rad, the oil doesn't stop there.
Looks like someone has made a custom gauge install, a turbo feed, or may be using the in rad trans cooler for an engine cooler.

If you wish to delete that, pull that line out, verify the connection size, and buy a plug. Or buy a new bolt on cover with no hole in it and just replace the plate. Simple as pie. Those plates are solid in our cars but can be tapped for oil pressure gauges and such.

( i.e. to have a cooler you need both feed and return lines )
have you traced the line to see where it terminates...?

I should of not posted that picture, since its not even mine and its not how mine is setup.
Please excuse my n00bish questions with my n00bish answers, lol.

Your LT1 oil "cooler' is a heat exchanger. It takes chilled COOLANT and circulates it through a sandwich cooler/exchanger at the oil filter. No oil goes to the radiator.
This has always been a poor way to do it. If you were to overheat the engine, the coolant would actually HEAT the oil thereby compounding an overheating situation.
Get a real cooler. Oil lines from and returned to the oil filter adapter to a plate cooler mounted in front of the radiator/AC condenser.

so basicly install an external oil cooler in front of the radiator and run the lines to the oil filter adapter. in case i didnt run that setup. would i have issues or does the LS1 run stock without any lines to the oil adapter? i just want to make sure i dont run into any issues.

LS1 & LS6 engines never came with oil coolers. And most engines don't need oil coolers. Best of both worlds is to install a proper cooler with a bypass thermostat so the oil isn't too cool. The thermostat allows cooling when needed.

I agree, coolant for cooling, oil for lubing. I realize in some applications oil coolers make sense, but a lot of LS1s have lived without them for a long time.
