Here's what I think is the culprit for my industrial sewing machine LS1 noise. Does this look like the lifter is collapsed? Could my cam be damaged?

 

In your video it looks like the rocker is bad. Looks to be moving around on the shaft.

 

I agree with 67SS509 it looks like the whole rocker is loose it shouldn't have any side to side rock to it. Check the roller bearings and make sure the rocker is tourqed down

 

The rocker is torqued down to 22ft lbs. I'm able to move the pushrods down about 1/4"...... And yeah the rocker does have some side to side motion, but all my rockers do. After reading some other threads, some lateral movement is normal.

Question is, should I just replace all the lifters and do the trunion upgrade or just the one lifter and the trunions? Either way, it's a PITA.

The lifters I have in now are the CTS-V ones. 5.3 heads, 7.4 PRs and stock mls head gaskets.

 

it looks like the bearings in the rocker are bad. Just do the comp cam trunion upgrade and call it a day.

Side to side movement is ok but it looks as if they are rocking back and forth meaning they are pivoting on the rocker arm bolt. I'd do at least a trunnions upgrade and check your pushrod length. If I went through the trouble to replace a lifter I would replace all of them.

 

If you end up doing the lifters I would suggest replacing them all with Brian Tooley Slow Leakdown Rate lifters. Very nice lifter and very quiet.

 

Thanks guys. This may be a tax return fix job. I plan on doing new lifters and the trunion upgrade. This thing is damn loud..... Louder than any other LS I've heard.

 

Pull the push rod and be sure its not bent. That would cause a lot of play like this.

 

I pulled the rod, it's not bent. I can feel the plunger going down on this lifter.

 

once you get the head off and lifter out I would look at the cam lobe for any damage.
